I have a random question for everyone. There was a point in the 4th quarter (I think) where a Packers WR made a nice catch, and they flipped the camera to Donald Driver on the sideline who said (reading his lips), "My boy!" He looked genuinely proud of the WR. Anyone know what receiver that was? Has Donald taken one of them under his wing?

I would also like the answer to this. The receiver showed great form and hands, but I couldn't see his name afterward. I think maybe it was Gore, but I don't even remember his number..

Chery picking: Jason Chery had shown his speed since being signed following Jeff Moturis early-camp knee injury, but Chery had yet to make much of an impression other than a negative one by dropping several would-be touchdowns after getting open against the likes of Charles Woodson.

And while Chery still has an uphill battle to beat out Brett Swain for the fifth receiver spot on the 53-man roster, Cherys 75-yard punt return for a touchdown certainly turned some heads.

How can you not be excited about that young man? McCarthy asked. We definitely are going to give him some more opportunities, I promise you that.

Chery called his post-touchdown Lambeau Leap an unparalleled experience. When he got to the sideline, incumbent punt returner Will Blackmon picked him up in a firemans carry to celebrate.

He picked me up and said, Great job. It was a great night. Everybody supported me, said Chery, who sped through a wide hole in the middle of the field on the return. When I caught the ball, the first thing I saw was guys closing in, so my first reaction was I had to somehow go vertical and then merge on my blocks and make them think Im going one way to another. I just took it without thinking and just ran and let my ability work itself out. I saw a big hole and I just took it and didnt look back.

Blackmon, who is coming off a knee injury, remains the primary punt returner, but Chery could make a run at his job with more plays like the one Thursday night. Special teams coordinator Shawn Slocum was pleased with Blackmon, who returned three punts for 27 yards, including a 16-yarder, in his second game back in action. Blackmon muffed the third punt he received but fell on it for a safe recovery.

I think what really pisses Peyton Manning off is how godawful-ugly his uniform is.

I smiled this morning when I read this.

I was imagining all the people in Indy leaning over their morning paper, sipping on coffee and digesting this article.

A LAMBEAU FLOP
Colts' worst preseason loss also brings slew of injuries
By Mike Chappell
Posted: August 27, 2010

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- One thing was painfully evident as the Indianapolis Colts' front-line players went through what likely was a final preseason tuneup Thursday night at famed Lambeau Field.

The regular season might be looming, but there's work to be done.

"Some things we can work on for sure,'' quarterback Peyton Manning said after the Green Bay Packers hung a historic 59-24 loss on the Colts. "We've got a couple of weeks to clean some things up."

Compounding matters are mounting injuries.

During the game, middle linebacker Gary Brackett (right hand), running back Joseph Addai (concussion), offensive tackle Tony Ugoh (toe), defensive tackle Antonio Johnson (groin) and cornerback Jacob Lacey (concussion) departed. The severity of injuries wasn't immediately known.

On the field, not much worked as the Colts were inefficient in virtually every phase in front of a sellout crowd of 68,987 and a national ESPN audience.

The Colts allowed the most points in their preseason history while the Packers tacked up their highest total since a 75-0 blowout of the Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Crush . . . in 1938.

Preseason or not, consider it a comprehensive tail-kicking:

The Manning-led offense scored two touchdowns and a field goal on its first four possessions. Its next five drives generated just 77 yards and included an interception and lost fumble by Manning.

The defense had few answers for quarterback Aaron Rodgers or any other member of the Packers offense. Rodgers passed for 195 yards and three touchdowns before calling it a night at halftime with the Packers in front 28-17. Green Bay finished with 430 total yards and 33 first downs.

The Colts have yielded 130 points in three losses.

For a second straight game, a rookie return specialist muffed a punt. A week after Ray Fisher failed to handle one, Brandon James went him one better. Despite calling for a fair catch inside his 10-yard line, James was unable to secure a sailing punt. Packers fullback Korey Hall recovered in the end zone for a touchdown.

Special teams weren't finished. The coverage unit allowed a 75-yard punt return for a touchdown by Jason Chery in the fourth quarter.

"There's an old adage that you're never as bad as you think you are when you lose, never as good as you think you are when you win,'' coach Jim Caldwell said. "There were some positive things in there, but we were not as sharp as we'd like to be.

"We were out of sync and (had) too many penalties (12 for 116 yards). We certainly did not play the way we're capable of playing.''

Added defensive end Dwight Freeney: "You use it as a learning tool. You take whatever you can get out of it and move on.''

The loss was the Colts' 22nd in the past 26 preseason games. But this one might have hurt worse than any of the others, physically as well as mentally.

Manning and the offense started smartly. Addai broke a 49-yard run on the first play of the game, then Manning hit Pierre Garcon, making his first appearance of the preseason, with an 18-yard touchdown.

After a punt, Manning pushed the Colts into a 17-7 lead on the strength of Adam Vinatieri's 41-yard field goal and a 10-yard touchdown pass to Reggie Wayne.

Then, it was all Packers, much to the delight of the Cheeseheads.

Green Bay scored 31 consecutive points, and the rout was on.

While Manning and the offense sputtered or turned the ball over, the defense allowed Rodgers touchdown passes in the first half to three receivers.

By the game's end, eight Packers had scored touchdowns.

The few positives registered by the Colts were from Wayne, with seven catches, 96 yards and one touchdown, and Garcon, with his first two catches of the preseason for 42 yards and one score.

Manning was under steady pressure and completed 15-of-26 passes for 214 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.

He and other starters are expected to play little, if at all, in next Thursday night's preseason finale against the Cincinnati Bengals at Lucas Oil
Stadium.

The comments  are almost as satisfying as the article. A goodie: "Reminded me of the super bowl: 17 minutes of fun followed by 43 minutes of The Sinking of the Andrea Doria."
