How good are the Packers?

The Packers are explosive and fun to watch on offense. Coach Mike McCarthy is an outstanding play designer and caller, quarterback Aaron Rodgers is deadly accurate and the Packers have skilled players galore.

The Packers are suspect on defense, however, especially at corner. With an offense that can score in the 30s every week, though, it will be hard for most opponents to keep pace.

The Packers are much like the Saints last year, explosive on offense and will have to scheme their way out of trouble on defense. It can be done in defensive coordinator Dom Capers' system, and the best thing Capers has going for him is that the offense can compensate for any mistake he might make. This freedom afforded to an aggressive play-caller such as Capers can make a defense much better.

I love watching the Packers, and after three weeks of the preseason they look like a Super Bowl contender.

i love hearing people recognize how good the packers are, but i can't help but get nervous when analysts start talking about super bowls in the preseason.

I think our defensive backs need to learn to stop the big play. Then let's talk about the Super Bowls.

Or by Nick Collins against either Cleveland or Seattle. I don't know what he did. It looked like he just say down and hoped the guy tripped over him, which did happen.

I love the point about a good offense allowing an aggressive defense. Let's hope Capers heared it, as well. We had a very good offense last year and we still played chicken defense in most cases. Rushing 3, laying back.

I hope to see some really creative blitzing. Jenkins and Raji both move around amazingly well for their size, use that to your advantage. Of course you don't want to rely on them in coverage too much, but come with something creative, let Jenkins drop back and overload a side, for instance.

We did stuff like that a few times last season, but by Dick LeBeau standards, not nearly enough.

I hope that you don't mean the Psycho package. That worked for like 3 times.

No, I don't mean any package. Just, overall. Although I do like the Psycho package when it's used right. NE uses it from time to time. It's something that should and could work on 3rd down or in other obvious passing situations.

You just need to have the pass rushers for it and hope your players pick up on it well so that it actually works confusing, rather than getting into their final positions with more than 5 seconds on the play-clock and pretty much showing what's going to happen.

Dammit I couldn't be more excited for this season. EXCELLENT article!! I'm totally biased but I LOVE it!!! Rodgers is a monster and his days of being under the radar are done. The O-Line is going to hold it's weight and Finley is going to surprise everyone!!

I can't remember the last time I was this excited for football to start!!

Didn't most of the "experts" pick the Bears to win the Super Bowl last year because they had the great defense and a great QB? and had the Saints in the bottom 16? ...
