1. Rodgers - Simply the most important player on our team, period!
2. Woody - Our Rodgers of defense
3. Collins - Almost as important to our secondary as Woody.
4. Jennings - Gotta have our #1 receiver.
5. Finley - Safety outlet for A-Rod...need him
6. Clifton - We must have our quota of false starts filled.
7. Grant - He goes down and we have to rely on Jackson, who may work in a limited time dealy, but would be scary long term.
8. Jenkins - IMO our best defensive lineman, and one of our few pass rushing threats.
9. Matthews - Same as Jenkins, gives us a pass rushing threat.
10. Crosby - As much as we have cringed as of late with him kicking field goals, imagine the cringe factor of not having him!

I chuckled when I read that. If Clifton DOES NOT get AT LEAST 1 FS/game I usually assume it's getting awfully cold in hell.

Bump.

Several people didn't even have Grant in the top 10. Greg C had him at 10. Buckeye had him at 7. Massey had him at 4. Lorrellen at 6. So did Hazer. I had him at 10. LambeauEast had him at 7.

I'm not bumping this to be a jerk. I do not wish injury on anyone, not even Cows. Injuries suck, and wish Grant the best.

The reason I'm bumping this is because someone else said we had injuries in '96 and overcame them.

I hate losing Grant. I really like the guy both as a player and a person. He seems like a cool guy. I do think though that we can win a SB with Brandon Jackson, or even Kuhn and someone from someone else's PS. I'd rather have Grant, but I think we can overcome Grant's loss for the season.

I'm glad you bumped this thread, zombie, because I thought about it when I heard Grant was lost for the season. Even those of us who had Grant on our lists mostly had him toward the bottom. On most NFL teams there are only one or two guys, at most, who are indispensable. For the Packers, it is Rodgers and probably Woodson. Once you get past those guys, it is possible to compensate for losing key players. The real problem is if other key players start falling out. Then you have a cumulative effect, which I think is part of what led to our defense getting lit up in Pittsburgh and Arizona.

I actually like Jackson almost as much as Grant. The problem is that there's really nobody behind Jackson, and I don't have a lot of faith in Jackson's durability. Grant took a ton of punishment for two and a half years without missing a game. Not many RBs do that.

this is an excellent bump, zombie. Your perspective changes when you're faced with a reality you weren't anticipating!

However, I still feel that RBs are one of the most overrated positions. Yeah, a great one is a nice toy to have, no doubt, but in a relative sence they're a dime a dozen, and this league is much more pass oriented. If Samkon and Tony Fischer can be adequate backs in this league, or if Indy can consistently rank last in team rushing but still win SBs then I'm not going to jump say the sky is falling over losing grant.

No doubt he was a solid back and this hurts, but like Greg said, I think it's really a lateral move in terms of talent from grant to bjack...but Grant's durability and consistency are big losses!

Good thread. Here we go.

1. Brett Favre-- HA! Just kidding you weirdos! Seriously tho Aaron Roders
2. Woodson
3. Jennings
4. Grant (sucks, I know)
5. Matthews
6. Collins
7. Finley
8. Barnett (he brings a certain 'swagger')
9. Pickett
10. Driver

I feel as if I am abandoning my brothers since I played OL and I didn't pick a single one of them, but as it is, I don't believe they are the most irreplaceable players we have.

After how he played (and after 29 days off!) I'd put Matthews on par with Woodson. Those guys are absolute frickin' studs, and the team would be *%*$#$'d if either one went down.

Since I somehow avoided this thread.. lol.

1. Rodgers
2. Woodson
3. Matthews
4. Jenkins
5. Finley - Although we didn't use him wide enough to get him loose this past weekend.
6. Collins
7. Wells - the communicator along the Oline
8. Crosby - This will be his year and the market is weak
9. Tauscher
10. Jennings.. our field stretcher.
