So it's no big deal to break the rules because a lot of other people are probably breaking the rules anyway? I've never agreed with that line of thinking. If you break the rules, you deserve to be punished.

Maybe what needs to happen is for these college programs to monitor themselves. If the punishment from the NCAA is severe enough, maybe they will. Each university needs to hire someone who will check in on the players and make sure there is no funny business. It seems like this stuff with Bush and his parents would've been easy enough to find out about, if someone made the effort.

No, I don't believe it is okay for him to break the rules.. and I have no issue with them taking the award away or him giving it back.

But to ridicule him endlessly while it happens in every school to some degree isn't being realistic. The only difference is the amount of the cash, his families ignorance and he got caught.

My point is he isn't some leper and the rest of the college game and probably a number of Heisman winners are free of that offense.
