I read it on the jsonline blog. Keep in mind; it happened in warmups. Unless he can get some kinda injection, I have a hard time seeing him play through this. Hopefully they can get through the bye week and get healthy.

I've got a feeling Tomlinson/Greene duo is going to tear our defensive line a new one on Sunday. The important thing is to get Pickett and Jenkins healthy again even if it means they have to miss the next couple of games before our bye week and having to go with the reserves next to Raji. If we can hit our Week 10 bye at 5-4, with the division as mediocre as it is right now, I think we'll be a good position to make a run the last seven games if we can get most of the guys who aren't on IR back relatively healthy as well as our guys currently the PUP list back and contributing.

I'm not worried about Tomlinson and Greene getting their yards -- let them. Sanchez has been one of the most efficient throwers of TD passes in recent memory. As long as the Packers can keep Sanchez from completing passes in the end zone, they should win this game.

Michael Montgomery would normally be activated in this game, but the injury to Jenkins came too late for that to happen.

The injury was unfortunate, the timing just unlucky.

But, porky, you cannot tell me you feel the slightest bit of ease at the thought that Montgomery is our primary back-up. He was ill suited to the 3-4 when he left, and he is still ill-suited now.

This defense requires gap control, that players maintain their gaps. Montgomery simply does not have the size or strength to consistently maintain his gap.

Pickett re-aggravated his injury, and that does not bode well for his availability this week. Ditto Jenkins, based on what the beat writers have said. Unless we get marginally capable 3-4 DEs (which Montgomery is most certainly not), we are going to taking a huge gamble. In other words, Ted has to give his coaches something to work with in these circumstances.

And, apparently Demovsky heard a rumor that Jenkins injured his calf during warm-up FG kicks (he was actually kicking FGs). My question is, if true, what the hell was Cullen Jenkins doing trying to be a kicker during warm-ups. Also, it seems that when Demovsky asked Trgovac if it was true (Jenkins injury resulting form him doing FG kicks during warm-ups), and he (Trgovac) did not deny it. Not sure if all this is true, but quite unusual if it is...

interesting tidbit aadp. Obviously there is no conceivable way that jenkins was not screwing around, so that's quite dissapointing that an injury appears to have resulted from horsing around.

You obviously push off with your calf, but a strain is not a pull...I can't imagine him being out any longer than the bye week.

That's pretty disturbing to read about Jenkins.

I have no confidence in Montgomery, but I rather have him in there than T.J. Lang. Right now, I'm concerned about reps. Guys are getting way too many reps and they're not going to last at this rate. If it means putting Montgomery on the field for ten snaps a game, then it's something that they just need to live with.

I was sitting in the stadium 90 minutes before kick off and there were a number of players out catching the ball.. Matthews, Chillar, Underwood, Lee.. some biggins were tossing the ball around.. and Crosby was kicking from the tee.. sitting here recalling it.. I don't remember any of the big's kicking the football in the field goals.. I will have to look through the pics to see if I can see that.

Thanks for clearing that up. :)

Frankly, that is even more concerning than had he injured it kicking.
