He certainly is, but you also have to factor in that dude has been trouble off the field. Being involved in a hit and run? Illegally carrying a weapon. Allegedly being involved in theft and threatening the person he stole from.

Another strike against him and he could've very well been suspended for a good chunk, if not all, of the season.

Touche. The guy does have a pretty bad track record. It's too bad that some very talented individuals decide to jeopardize their career like that.

He doesn't make a habit of tipping the ball up to the defender anymore, if that's what you mean. I wouldn't say he's "excellent," though. Another thing about Lynch is he's got enough speed to get to the corner.

He has shown an extra gear the past couple games, that's true. If he gets 20+ carries, he could really get into a groove. But you know that ain't going to happen. He's the "third down" back. (And everyone knows we never run on third down. We protect the passer so he can throw deep.)

It would sure be nice to have a RB who can actually CATCH the ball. Besides the one on PUP right now. But why give up a third for someone you're only gonna give like 8 carries a game?

You're not making any sense. Brandon Jackson is an excellent recieving RB.

I don't remember him ever tipping the ball to the defender, much less making a "habit" of it. I'll take your word for it that it happened at least once, but I think you need to stop being bitter about it. He's done just fine catching the ball ever since he's been in Green Bay.

BJack is a legitimate backup that is it. He lacks speed and is tentative at hitting the hole. There are a number of times this guys looks like he doesn't even want to run into the hole.

Does nay team in the league say, " wow we got to watch GB and the run, they might be us on the ground?" lol. The answer is no!! Every team plays the pass against us with the ability to keep an eye on the run here and there. We do not have a legitimate running game, period.

Really? You figured that out just now?

The point of this thread is that Marshawn Lynch probably wouldn't have made our running game any better than it is now.

Lynch is worth the pick because, his addition keeps SB aspirations a live. (realistically).

The only way our Super Bowl aspirations are alive with Lynch is if they are also alive and just as strong with Jackson. Lynch has done nothing to live up to the hype that surrounded him coming out of college. He is a name and nothing more and until he does anything to show his career won't continue to spiral out of control he adds nothing to this, or really any team.

By that logic, neither has Clay Matthews. Lynch had two very good seasons to start his NFL career. Clay has only played one and a half. Yeah, I agree, he has really done nothing to live up to his college hype.

Not that I think Lynch is a great player. His level of play has significantly dropped recently, and I don't think he was worth trading for. I just like to correct illogical statements from time to time.

Clay is currently leading the league in sacks this year despite having missed a game and a half being injured and has shown himself to be one of the premier pass rushers. Lynch has never been close to leading the league in rushing. He barely broke 1,000 yards his first two years, with averages of 4.0 and 4.1. He scored a fair number of times (15 total his first two years) and showed potential but by no means is that production dominant like the hype that surrounded him. He has regressed since and has had a multitude of off-the-field problems.

His career is nothing like Matthews at this point. He is nose-diving in the wrong direction whereas Matthews is excelling and has already done more this year than many people predicted (myself and many on this board included).

Really? Got the stats to back it up? This type of horseshit makes me livid. There are a few instances where our QB -- whom I am a big fan of -- has thrown it deep in 3rd and short situations. This, however, is not an indication that the playcall says "Make it rain! Throw it up there!" I'm no expert but I can tell that your understanding of offense is remedial at best. You understand that a play that has four or five receiving options is going to have a few that go downfield?

Hey, I'm an armchair QB. I know how to fix our offensive woes. Throw slants and screens (so we can stroke our mid-90s Holmgren boner) and give B-Jack the ball 23 times a game. That's it. Put it in a pot, let it simmer for 3 hours, and serve. Football can't possibly be more complicated than that. I mean, I play Madden -- I know what's up. [...rage...]
