Why are so many people up in arms about Tom Coughlin yelling at the punter after the game? Since when did the NFL turn into the Girl Scouts?

Coaches can't yell at players anymore? What in the name of Vince Lombardi is going on out there?

I take full responsibility, but I told him to punt it out of bounds and he screwed up.

Small summary of what he said.

I think people are more pissed about putting out such a hypocritical statement than about him yelling at a player who screwed up bigtime.

I don't care either way. He had to put it PC for the NFL police. That's what he did. And then he just came with reality.

I wish more "coaches" did that... get on this players when they blow and assignment or don't play up to their potential.. the players are paid well to hold up their end of the bargain.. hold them accountable.

When I saw this thread, I was hoping IronMan wasn't going to go off on people who were out sick a lot. I missed about 7 days this year because of the flu and colds, and no, I wasn't playing hookie.

Phew!

You know who should have been yelled at? Our two DBs who dropped INTs right in their freaking hands. Either one of those INTs could have been game. You got the best QB in the freaking NFL who throws an INT right into your hands and you drop it. Urgh!

That was much worse than a Punter not punting it out of bounds. I guess the difference between good teams and mediocre teams is good teams make the plays they're supposed to make.

The Woodson pick was more damning than the Shields drop.. Shields was on 3rd down.

I still say that Squib kick return before the half was worse than any of the dropped INT's.

My biggest issue with MM is the fact that he seems like a robot on the sidelines. What little and rare emotion that comes from him seems like shitty emulation of real emotion. Someone makes a huge, boneheaded mistake (a few on that special teams play)? I want to see him either red as a tomato "talking" to him on the sidelines or yelling.

Rodgers gets hit helmet to helmet for the second time in a game without it being called? I want to see MM waving his arms around and yelling like someone just hit his car.

I've seen Tom Brady numerous times get right in the face of a player and scream at the top of his lungs.

Yet, they all seem to love him. Plus, look at how they perform. NE seems to me like they're a bunch of losers from other teams that all somehow become stars in NE. If it takes screaming to win games, then I'm all for it.

The other thing that boggled my mind after watching the game was it seems like we have a minimum height requirement to be a Packer. NE has all these short dudes that run fast and get TDs. Side gripe though. Don't mean to go off topic.

Back on topic, yes, I agree with you IronMan. I want to win games, not be politically correct.

Sorry, when I see Tom Brady screaming I always assume he's throwing a tantrum because he threw a pick and thought someone got interfered with, or someone brushed against him right after the ball was released.

To me, there is a difference between a coach getting into someones face and a team leader. The coach should be the one kicking him in the nuts and holding him accountable.. the teammate should be less demonstrative about it and do it in a different manner than zany on field antics unless he is okay with another player doing the same when he fails to hold his end of the bargain.

I highly doubt a Brady or Manning would take it if some lineman bitched them out on national TV.. or diva wide receiver calling him out.

Especially the QB which is becoming a "Pussified" version of a football player with the rules surrounding them. From the red "Don't touch me" jerseys in practice to now getting 15 yard penalties from even breathing on them. (Had to throw that in there.. you know the pussified thread)

I don't think it has anything to do with a pussified or tough society. I just found it a little ridiculous that Coughlin's focus at the end of the game was running out onto the field and berating his punter. The game is over. You have plenty of time to do that shit in the coming week. It showed a lack of control more than anything else. There was no purpose to it other than venting like a little whiny bitch.

Of course, this is the first I've discussed it, so it's not like it bothered me a great deal.

beast (18h) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (18h) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (23h) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (23h) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Zero- Did you see what I posted about Voice of Reason and his wife? She posted over at fleaflicker that they are both "In"
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : Well, not crazy, it makes sense. Crazy I didn't notice/find it earlier

Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in

Martha Careful (2-Aug) : Congratulations Sterling Sharpe. He was terrific and I loved watching him play.
beast (2-Aug) : I believe it's technically against the CBA rules, but Jerry just calls it a simple unofficial chat... and somehow gets away with it.
beast (2-Aug) : Jerry Jones is infamous for ̶n̶e̶g̶o̶t̶i̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ chatting with players one on one... and going around the agent.
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I assumed that both guys will get paid, just a matter of when or how we get there
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : the Synder years or do they take care of one of their own?
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Do the Commanders risk losing a top WR with an emerging QB just because he's turning 30 and potentially risk damaging the rebuild from
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Turns 30 this September, plays at a high level and Washington has some cap space I believe
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin
