I was on this forum and on the forum previously stating that, back in 2005, I felt Aaron was not only going to replace Brette Favre, but was going to be better because of his equally strong arm, better accuracy surgical precision, poise, and mobility. Aaron's like JOe Montana with a stronger arm.

I'm glad and happy that us packer fans can all see Aaron come into his own and show to the NFL world that he really is a special quarterback and will shine in his own way away from Farve.

Seattle, Chicago, Pittsburgh, NewEngland, and The JEts...all got a message today. The Packers are going to be coming and you are not going to be able to stop them.

I'm both a Favre and a Rodgers fan. I just hope that one day we can end up appreciating the both of them for what they've done(and in Rodgers' case, still yet to do) for this franchise and fanbase. Like I said, I find it hard to discount what #4 could have done in his MVP years with today's rules that promote higher scoring. That's all.

Man can I not wait till next week! I'm really hoping for the Shithawks to pull one out tomorrow so I can go to Qwest Field next weekend and watch Rodgers and the boys run wilder than all 30 years of Hulkamania combined! 🙂

From Mike Vandermause in the GB Press Gazette:

In what will go down as one of the biggest snubs in league history, Rodgers didnt receive an invitation to the Pro Bowl this season. But he is the one still standing while the three NFC Pro Bowl quarterbacks are home watching the rest of the playoffs.

Rodgers out-performed two of those quarterbacks Philadelphias Michael Vick and Atlantas Matt Ryan in head to head playoff matchups, while New Orleans Drew Brees and his team went down in flames last week.

The pro-bowl is a farce dominated by big markets, media hype and the ramblings of the NFL Network.

Rodgers, Sitton, Raji, Williams - no brainers. I know it's important to the players, but honestly, I can remove homerism and say that we are STILL underrated.

That aside,

WHAT A RIDE.

Rodgers is scary. You can just tell that this guy has a unique bar of excellence set for himself. He completed what, 9 or something in a row and then as soon as he misses one he is frustrated - but doesn't dwell.

You can also tell he is a great teammate, he tells it how it is, but never absolves himself of fault, rather, he can come across as too hard on himself. I like that.

Uniquely talented, and possibly the closest thing to a complete package you will ever see.

He completed 11 in a row, tying a Packers playoff record set by that last guy. The one he missed was a screen pass--maybe his only bad throw of the night. Looked like he rushed it a bit.

Good point about how he sets the bar high for himself. He is obviously a guy who pays attention to detail.

At this point in their careers...

Is Rodgers a better QB than Favre?

IMO...surprisingly, I say yes.

:onfloor:

Enjoy the journey ladies and gentleman, this play-off run is turning into something special, this topic is one that can be brought up after the season is complete.
This is a topic that could very possibly be debated right into next season, why waste your time on it now.
EMBRACE THE PRESENT!!!!!

GO PACKERS!!!!!

That's the way I look at it too. Rodgers is a third year starter, but a six year vet. Those three years on the bench were very important for him. If he had been thrown into the starting role earlier, I think his rookie year would've been bad, and probably the second year as well. By the third year, I think he was ready to excel, but he had to wait till the next season to get his chance.

I'd rather not compare my 2 favorite QBs. It feels kind of dirty to me, like if you had 2 kids and someone asked you which kid you liked better.

I did say back in 2009 that Aaron Rodgers was better than Peyton Manning. At the time, people thought I was nuts. I said it again in 2010 and it's been a little better. I showed stats that proved my point too but they got ignored. Then I went on a rant on how Manning is "Mr. Regular Season" then got called "a hack."

Well, who's looking smart now? Manning's only SB win was because of Wrecks Grossman. Let's be real. Wrecks sabotaged the team with his stupidity. It wasn't Manning winning it, it was da Bears losing it.

Now Rodgers actually gets BETTER in the Playoffs. Put Manning behind the Packers' OL. Seriously. See how he fares. How many tackles does Rodgers break? How many people who get through does Aaron juke then go on to complete a pass? We saw it ALL DAY LONG yesterday. They were getting though all day and Aaron would slip away and complete a pass. He's freaking amazing.

Better than Peyton Manning. If you got a problem with that, let's revisit this 10 years from now and I'll look smart and you'll look stupid.

I'm one of Rodgers biggest critics because I believe in results and not potential. But I don't see what you can get on him about at this point in terms of ability. He's exceeded my expectations by a million and I will say it right now, I WAS WRONG about so many things that I didn't think he could do or had in him.

But I still think we have to be careful to say he's the greatest, etc. You don't get that until you get the MVPs and SBs. It's not fair but that's life, you can't make exceptions for QBs because you like them. Like I think Phillip Rivers is underrated because he hardly ever has anything to work with but no MVP, no SB, he's not going to get the same respect that Brady, Manning or Brees gets. It sucks because its a team sport.

For example, lets say Vikings don't get a 12th man in the huddle or Favre doesn't through that INT, the Vikings could have won that game on the FG and you would be talking about how Brees doesn't have a SB. Or if Porter doesn't pick off Manning on that drive.

There's no doubt about it, that stuff is stupid but its just the way QBs are judged. And its pretty unique to QBs. You can be a legendary RB without a SB and you won't get criticized as much or a LB or whatever.

You sure do throw a lot of 'if this and that' around. So much for your comment of taking "results", huh?

I don't think it's fair to say Rodgers is the greatest, but his results thus far are impressive.
