A friend of mine posted this experience of his on another board.

I lost my wallet a few days ago. after cancelling my credit cards, getting new insurance cards(health and auto) and a new wallet, I got around to the fun process of attempting to get a new license. I must say that DMV(sec. of state) can kiss my a**. I had a copy of birth certificate and bank statement with my address on it. not exact words, but essentially how my conservation with a woman in the Sec. of state office went like this.

her-you need something with your signature on it.

me-I dont have anything, anything with my signature was in my wallet, that as I just told you, was lost.

her-you need something with signature.

me-again, I have nothing, my wallet was lost

her-how about a credit card?

me-they were in my wallet, which as I've now said THREE times was lost.

her-how about your social security card?

me-again, in my wallet, THAT WAS LOST.

her-do you have your drivers license, it has your signature?

me-if I had my license, would I be here wanting a new license?

her-(no reply) she had a stupid look on her face at that point.

me-f* it(at which point I decided it best to leave rather than entertain how stupid she was).

Im moving to Indiana when I get married in May. if I didnt need an IL license to get an IN license I wouldnt even bother to get a new IL license.

Oh, I'm not surprised. Something happens to people when they get employed by the government. It's seriously like their brains get sucked out through their ears or something. They are like robots. I hate the DMV. HATE. THEM.

I never go straight to the DMV's. Usually there's some kind of DMV express around if you live in the city. It's much quicker and the people seem to know what they're doing. I renewed my license in less than 10 minutes and that counts waiting in lines.

Agreed. The other thing that was mentioned at the other site was those of you who do not have a passport, go get one. I keep mine at the bank in a security deposit box. If he had one his problems would have been solved.
Plus there is a potential delay you can run into when you really need a passport so get one before hand. They are good for 10 years.

Yeah, the DMV wouldn't issue my sister a driver's license until she had a passport. I think it's pretty lame that we've gotten to the point where you need a passport in order to drive.

All in the name of national security of course. Blah.

Not that I'm against having a passport, of course. It's amazing how many American adults don't have passports; in most parts of the world, almost everyone has a passport. One never knows when an opportunity will be lost because one didn't have a passport and wasn't able to hop on a plane to fly overseas.

Never ever ever EVER keep that in your wallet. That's as dumb as writing the PIN for your debit card on a piece of paper in your wallet. If you've ever gone to college, you know your social security number by heart. If you don't know it by heart, keep it locked away at home and bring it out when you need to know it.

wpr, hope your friend enjoys Indiana. There's some shithole towns like any other states but there's some very nice areas in northwest Indiana. Valparaiso and Saint John are both really nice.

If you lost your wallet how could you get into the security deposit box? Just saying ;)

My friend recently lost his wallet and got his license from the DMV with a bank statement and a temporary debit card. I don't know how to say this without sounding racist but I did tell him to go to the DMV that's almost exclusively black people (customers and workers) because they were super nice and easy there when I had to renew my license. I guess it's harder depending on the DMV.

How is that racist? It sounds like a pragmatic application of empirical observation.

beast (21h) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Zero- Did you see what I posted about Voice of Reason and his wife? She posted over at fleaflicker that they are both "In"
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : Well, not crazy, it makes sense. Crazy I didn't notice/find it earlier
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : it's crazy how one stored procedure to get data bogged everything down for speed here

Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
