Blast it with piss.

Or go to a psychologist.

In essence it's just about facing your fears and tackling them.

Get drunk?

Reading through those examples I identified with quite a few of them. I have the issue where I think everyone is looking at me wherever I go. I also have the issue with the presenter where I think I always do a terrible job and everyone notices. Every little embarrassing thing I do I over blow in proportion and constantly go over that moment time and time again in my head feeling guilty, stupid and obviously embarrassed all over again. However, none of these feelings get to the point where they prevent me from doing whatever I need to do so I don't feel that I have too much of a problem. Just overly anxious and extremely critical of myself.

I'm also extremely shy and polite around people I don't know. Unless I'm with people I already know.

I don't have any social phobias... I just happen not to enjoy crowded areas with any congestion at all. It is a preference so to speak.. I find it very inconvenient to have to deal with crowded areas.

Doubtless this is true.

But that doesn't make it easy.

Facing your fears is like walking up a hill.

Unfortunately, the hill often looks like Everest.

In a snowstorm.

And you're wearing those new dress loafers with the slippery leather soles.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I bet you said that in jest, but it does work to a certain extent. It's just that it often comes with obnoxiousness, as well.

Also, it never has that huge an impact. I mean, when you're at the point that you let go off all your limitations, you're too pissed to actually enjoy it or have a sensable talk.

It's just not something I can imagine you'd want to rely on. Rourke said it best, you don't want to be with someone who's only good when he/she's drunk.

If you really identify with those stories, you should really go see a psychologist once. If it's covered on your insurance, at least.

The first part is the hardest... When you're really afraid to talk to anyone. After that it gradually gets easier and you won't need the proffesional help anymore. Like I said, it's all about facing your fears and overcoming them, but to have someone council you when you have to take that first step is a real big help.

Well, yeah, in that case there's no real reason to. It's more when it starts to take over your life, you stop or avoid doing stuff because of it, it becomes a real problem.

It's always a shame to see people throw away years of their life that way, just because they're afraid to see a psychologist for whatever reason.

I was actually afraid to ask for both proffesional help or help from even my parents.

I eventually opened a wikipedia tab with "sociale fobie" on it for my father to find it. He then contacted a psychologist for me. It was quite sad, really.
