same report this one being posted on PFT.

We passed along a report over the weekend that said Packers wideout James Jones did not receive a restricted free agent tender from the Packers. Weve now got a quick update to pass along as well.

Jones said on WBAY (via Jason Wilde) that he did, in fact, get hit with a tender from the Packers.

It probably wont make a difference because players with four years of experience like Jones are expected to be unrestricted free agents after the next CBA is reached. Still, the Packers played it safer with Jones than was originally reported.

You can now continue with your Monday.

Ditto for Jackson:

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/03/07/brandon-jackson-was-tendered-a-contract-too/#comments

Earlier this morning, we passed along news that Packers wide receiver James Jones was tendered a one-year contract as a potential restricted free agent, despite a previous report the contrary.

A league source informs PFT that Packers running back Brandon Jackson was also given a RFA tag, despite a report to the contrary. (Yes, it was the same report as Jones.) Jacksons tender was at the third-round level of compensation.

The tag on Jackson protects the Packers just in case players with four years of experience are not unrestricted free agents after a new CBA is reach. That scenario is viewed as unlikely.

A return to Green Bay for Jackson would not be a surprise, no matter what his status is. He may have more value to the Packers as a third-down specialist than he has anywhere else.

First the new CBA is most likely going to make tenders on 4th and 5th year players useless as they can no long use them.

But I don't know why they would tender some and leave off Jackson and Jones ... I'm thinking the report could be wrong...

I can see leaving Bigby off with all of his injuries...
Jackson would take a 2nd round tender but tender are low... so why not?

Honestly this doesn't make sense to me... I'm thinking the reporting is wrong. But that's just a guess...

Update.
At the link it is the second half of the story.

In another matter, receiver James Jones did receive a restricted free agent tender from the Packers, contrary to a report in the Journal Sentinel Friday. Jones' name did not show up on the list of Packers players with the tenders circulated around the NFL Friday, according to a league source.

But his name did turn up on it Monday. The source did not reveal what level the tender was, but it's likely to be the lowest possible, which would garner the Packers a third-round pick - the round in which Jones was selected - if he signed with another team.

The Packers also sent restricted tenders to guard Daryn Colledge, kicker Mason Crosby and running back John Kuhn.

Colledge and Crosby got second-round tenders, which means compensation is set at a second-round pick for both players. Kuhn got the low tender, which, because he was not drafted, means the Packers only get the right to match any offer he receives.

The restricted tenders may be moot. The only way they'll be in effect is if the NFL resorts to its "uncapped" free agency system in which players need six years to be unrestricted. If the requirement is four years, as it was for more than 15 years before the salary cap was removed last season, all of the players would be unrestricted.

beast (16h) : I believe it's technically against the CBA rules, but Jerry just calls it a simple unofficial chat... and somehow gets away with it.
