Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers passes Brett Favre in NFL jersey sales

Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers has eclipsed his predecessor, Brett Favre, in off-the-field jersey sales, too.

The most valuable player of Super Bowl XLV rose to No. 2 on the NFL list of most popular player jerseys over the past year, according to a preview of the rankings obtained by Game On!

Rodgers sits behind only No. 1 Troy Polamalu of the Pittsburgh Steelers on the list which is based on sales at NFLShop.com from April 1, 2010 through March 31, 2011.

Favre ranked No. 1 the previous year. He plummeted to 14th place this year.

It's the first time Rodgers has had more jersey sales than Favre, who retired from the NFL in January.

Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints, Peyton Manning of the Indianapolis Colts and Tim Tebow of the Denver Broncos round out No. 3-5 in the Top 5 list.

Other big shifts: Tebow, who ranked No. 1 through November, finished No. 5. Packers linebacker Clay Matthews, who didn't crack the Top 25 last season, finished 8th -- ahead of quarterbacks Tony Romo of the Dallas Cowboys and Eli Manning of the New York Giants. Despite his dog-fighting past, Michael Vick of the Philadelphia Eagles rose to No. 6th from 20th place.

The Packers, Steelers, Cowboys, Chicago Bears and New England Patriots were the Top 5 teams for total merchandise sales.

Top 15 list of-best-selling NFL player jerseys for the past year

1: Troy Polamalu, Pittsburgh Steelers
2: Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
3: Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints
4: Petyon Manning, Indianapolis Colts
5: Tim Tebow, Denver Broncos
6: Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles
7: Tom Brady, New England Patriots
8: Clay Matthews, Green Bay Packers
9: Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys
10: Eli Manning, New York Giants
11: DeSean Jackson, Philadelphia Eagles
12: Mark Sanchez, New York Jets
13: Miles Austin, Dallas Cowboys
14: Brett Favre, Minnesota Vikings
15: Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings

OK, my big question is why are so many people buying Tim Tebow jerseys?

Funny that Favre's ahead of AP even though Favre's retired. Wonder how Vikesrule feels about that, considering VR went into hiding when Favre was QB'ing his beloved team.

You know, Burt Facre.

Miles is cute, according to my wife, so lots of women and guys who like pretty men buy his jersey.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.
I want to go out like my Grandpa did. Peacefully in his sleep.
Not screaming in terror like his passengers.

It's just all the cheesehead wannabe's jumping on the Packers "we were lucky to be in the playoffs, let alone the fluke SB win" bandwagon.

Only thing more fickle than a cheesehead is a cheesehead wannabe.

There are a lot of college football fans out there, and Tebow was a fantastic college player who is now in the NFL. That's my best answer.
