LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Randall Cobb was one of 25 potential draftees invited to Radio City Music Hall for last week's NFL draft. He was the last one left in the green room by the time the Green Bay Packers selected him with the final pick of the second round.

During the 5-foot-10, 191-pound wide receiver's three-year career at Kentucky, he thrived on negativity, like when he was told he was too small to even play Division I football.

So when he was all alone in the green room, he took it to heart.

"The day I got drafted, I went and worked out that night," Cobb said. "I (live) off that stuff, and I'm going to use that as motivation like I always have."

Though several draft analysts projected Cobb to be selected earlier than he was, he said he expected to go somewhere in the third round.

Still, Cobb said he wondered to himself where he would fall once six receivers were taken before him. When he finally came off the board, the wait was instantly gratified.

"It's probably the best thing that could have happened to me, to wait as long as I did and to go to the team that I did," Cobb said. "God works in mysterious ways."

For now, Cobb said he will continue to maintain his conditioning and do as much individual work as he can while he waits for the NFL's lockout to end.

Cobb said he has tried to get in contact with Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers; both will be in Louisville for Saturday's Kentucky Derby, Cobb said, and he hopes they can meet for the first time.

Because of the lockout, no rookies will have access to their respective teams' playbooks until a new collective bargaining agreement is reached.

Cobb said for the most part, he has been left in the dark about the lockout.

"I know as much as you all know, what I see on TV and my agent tells me a little bit every now and then," he said. "But there's not too much I can do about it. I just try to focus on what I can handle, and that's being prepared and being ready when the lockout is over and training camp begins."

While the lockout was temporarily lifted on the three days of the draft, Cobb said he got an idea from the Packers that, like at Kentucky, he would be used as a wide receiver and a return specialist. In three years, Cobb set the Wildcats' career record with 37 touchdowns (22 rushing, 13 receiving and two punt returns).

Cobb even tried to call Green Bay punter Tim Masthay to jokingly threaten to take his job as holder. The two were teammates at Kentucky in 2008.

While the green-room waiting game was tough, Cobb said it was more than worth it.

"I would have stayed until the sixth round if I knew I was going to Green Bay," he said

Wow, love this kids attitude. Could be a steal for where we got him.

How many green-room prospects are on the Packers' roster now? Aaron Rodgers, Randall Cobb . . . anyone else?

You're right!

"I was thrilled when I got the call from Green Bay," Bulaga told the media after the first round ended. "I was an NFC North fan growing up in Illinois, so I was ecstatic to get the call....I dont know what my role will be, but Im definitely going to come in and push myself to win a starting job."

Bulaga had the potential to go higher in the draft and make more money initially, but being drafted by a title contender might work out much better for the Iowa lineman in the long run.

Raji may have been invited too. He had about 50 people to celebrate with though. Can't invite them all.

I may be buying a Cobb jersey in a year or two... EXTREMELY excited about him.

I have a good feeling this kid is going to make an instant impact on the Packers with the attitude he carries. He seems like he just loves football and is grateful he gets to play.

One thing I liked is where he says he basically has a chip on his shoulder and he is trying to contact AR. I hope Aaron becomes a tutor with Cobb seeing they both got the green room snub. Wouldn't it be nice if Aaron got all the wrs together and worked out like Peyton Manning used to do with Harrison and Wayne.

I have a good vibe about him and it will make up for not taking Crabtree and Bryant 😛
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I have a good feeling about him. Reminds me of Percy Harvin. We're going to be putting him in diverse situations, which is good.

beast (2-Aug) : I believe it's technically against the CBA rules, but Jerry just calls it a simple unofficial chat... and somehow gets away with it.
beast (2-Aug) : Jerry Jones is infamous for ̶n̶e̶g̶o̶t̶i̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ chatting with players one on one... and going around the agent.
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I assumed that both guys will get paid, just a matter of when or how we get there
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : the Synder years or do they take care of one of their own?
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Do the Commanders risk losing a top WR with an emerging QB just because he's turning 30 and potentially risk damaging the rebuild from

Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin

Mucky Tundra (30-Jul) : Zero, regarding Ewers, you are correct.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Sadly, this might be our life for awhile. I could put it on another host, but seems it was slower, although more stable

beast (30-Jul) : RIP site 😭
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site will die, I have to restart it.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Quinn stinks. Lot of underthrows. (my guess)
beast (30-Jul) : How did Quinn Ewers effect where Golden was drafted?
dfosterf (30-Jul) : All I've experienced was late at night or early morning. I just figured you were doing something in the background
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site sure seems to be down more than up
dfosterf (29-Jul) : 50 cent hookers? I'm moving to Green Bay. I thought it was just real estate that was more affordable there. 😂
