I think this is a shameless ploy for fan sentimentality, but whatever.

All I have to say is, why not Kampman?

Simple.. He was not on the Packers in any capacity n 2010.. none.

Kampman left on his own accord.. the Packers were willing to resign him.. but he wanted to play in a 4-3 and signed in the previous offseason.

See the difference?

A Player on the PUP draws a salary.. works out with the team or in the teams facilities and is a Packer in that capacity. He was in the capacity for the great balance of the season... I think it logical but not required that they extend the offer.

Heh. I find it funny how NSD doesn't get attached to any player. Not saying it's wrong. It's just so different from most fans, myself included.

I'll follow a former Packer. Followed James Lofton, Brett Favre, Ahman Green, etc.

Well, I guess Harris can retire now. I see he played 3 games for Miami and had 3 tackles but not much else. He really has nothing left to prove. He played 12 years and got 2 Pro Bowls and had an epic INT/TD in a Playoff game.

Super Bowl winners usually give a lot of the guys rings... Kuhn got a ring from the Steelers as a practice squad player. If we're giving them to practice squad players like other teams have done then Harris deserves one as well. May not gotten on the field last year but a lot before that and he was a leader in the locker room and did work out with the team for a couple of weeks this year.

And to be honest I'm find with giving Kampman one as well.... great player/person that was one the team a good while and left partly because the team changed and the new system didn't fit him. I understand not giving him as well... but the Colts did give one to Edgerrin James after he was no longer with the team...

This really made my day. I'm so glad that the Packers are such a class organization. Al Harris was and will always be one of my favorite Packers of all time.

For me.. it is not an attachment to a player.

It is the fact that he was on the Packers this season.. on the sidelines helping the other players like he always has.. he was part of the club in every sense but play on the field for the greater portion of the season. He contributed to the season just as much as any guy on IR or practice squad. actually more than some that couldn't even attend the games or rehab at the Packers facilities. Detaching themselves completely from the team in a sense.

The fact that he handled himself with class on the way out.. didn't hurt.

Al Harris will always be welcome back for Packers events.

He is a good candidate for the Packers Hall of Fame.

There are no bad feelings toward Al Harris.

But it is an indication that all Packers become former Packers usually not on the players terms.

Some handle it well like KGB, Al Harris, and Aaron Kampmann.
Some don't like Brett Favre.

Kampman was was not on the team in'10. Harris was.

Not because of the story or sympathy. Just because he was there.

Even if I hated Harris, he was on the team, he gets a ring.

Harris was one of the most underrated/under appreciated players I've ever seen. There was about a 3-4 year window when he was arguably the best corner in the league, yet nobody outside of Packerland ever game him his due. I remember one year in particular he gave up ONE TD the entire season, and that was when we played man to man on almost every play. It pisses me off that the lasting memory the average football fan is going to have of him is getting abused by Plaxico in the NFC Championship, because he was a much better player than that.

Burress got into Harris' head. Al was too focused on Plax and not his job.

Sometimes you can be too aggressive.

There's not too many cornerbacks that could have covered Plaxico Burress in the NFC Championship game in '07. Eli Manning was on fire and put balls where only Plaxico could catch them.
