Barnett: 5.87 million
Tauscher (sigh): 4.38
Poppinga: 2.35
Total: 12.60 million

So, what would $12.60 million buy in free agency this year?

Probably not Jenkins.

But would it buy a better-than-Colledge OG and leave enough left over to keep Kuhn and Crosby? Maybe even Jones?

Methinks $10 million alone is good enough to upgrade Colledge at OG and keep Kuhn and Crosby. I'm still not sold on FBs though as I think they're easily replaceable. Crosby I would want to keep, but won't be bummed if we don't either.

From Rotoworld

4/10/2007: Signed a six-year, $34.975 million contract.
The deal included a $5.1 million signing bonus and a second-year roster bonus of $625,000.
2011: $5.5 million (+ $375,000 roster bonus + $150,000 workout bonus),
2012: $6 million (+ $375,000 roster bonus + $150,000 workout bonus),
2013: Free Agent

I think that's a touch over $6 million for '11 ... for what would probably be a backup.

I think it was a tweet from a Raven's media person that started the rumor on that.)

Of course he could of just been talking about borrowing cap money from the future... sounded like the CBA that the Owners agreed too (and the players have yet to agree to) said something about teams could borrow 6 million this year and 1.5 next year from future caps money... not sure how the pay back play works... but the article I read on it (have no idea where it was from... PFT.com maybe?) but it then said some teams think the cap will keep going up with the tv money coming in so they're more worried about getting under the cap now think the future will fix it self as the cap goes up with the more money they make.

It looks like an extra $6.5m could potentially be available.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/07/22/looking-at-how-salary-cap-flexibility-will-work-in-2011/

We reported Thursday that NFL teams would have a mechanism to make it easier to keep high priced veterans in 2011.

When the league rolled out their settlement agreement (which hasn’t yet been agreed to by the players), we found out how it all work.

Teams will have roughly $3.5 million in what would otherwise be performance-based pay available to fund veteran player salaries. Teams could also “borrow” $3 million from a future salary cap that could be paid back.

The salary cap is set to be $120.375 million in 2011. Combining the two exemptions for 2011, the number really rises to $126.885. An extra $6.5 million won’t save guys that truly deserve to get cut, but it will make life easier for teams near the cap limit.

Look for plenty of teams to “borrow” from future years. With television revenue likely to rise significantly in the future, teams can feel confident the salary cap is going to rise quite a bit.

In 2012, each club can also “borrow” up to $1.5 million in cap room from a future year.

However, I've gotta imagine that Ted Thompson isn't looking to max out his cap numbers in FA. He wants to leave some room for in-season contract extensions for guys like Sitton, Nelson, and Finley. At least I hope that is in the plans.

Wade, I'm curious why you don't think $12.6M could by Jenkins? Am I misinterpreting your post?
