That's true as well and home brewing over the last two to three decades--I think--is one of the driving forces behind the craft brewery industry. I know a number of the bigger craft breweries in MIssouri were started because some guys found out they weren't too bad at making it at home and decided to sell it. Schlafly's in St. Louis, the third biggest brewery in Missouri behind Busch and Boulevard, was started by a couple of lawyers.

I, myself, have dabbled in home brewing and it's really not that hard to make a decent beer. I've got a bunch of friends who do it as well.

I think it's simply not as trendy as it used to be. Today's kids are a little smarter and a little more health-conscious, and a lot more sophisticated. We used to dream of Heineken - our kids dream of Cristal. I think swilling beer has lost its glamour over the last 20 years...

When I was younger, I never really liked beer. I drank (a lot) because most of my friends did (and many of them may have been drinking for the same exact reason). Now I don't drink nearly as much beer as I did when I was younger. Over the last few years I've become a real "wine snob", although if I need to get mellow in a hurry I'll reach for the hard stuff.

It's just that better tasting alternatives are available for a price that, while ridiculously high, is affordable for most of the kids these days.

Next to that, if you're going out binge drinking, beer is cheaper, but it doesn't get you there nearly as fast... And that is, pretty often, the objective with younger people.
