Cobb's TD return was on ESPN's Sports Science this week. Don't know how much of it is actually science, but I enjoyed the video. I think the way his left leg was coming around he was likely to remain on his feet even if Kuhn hadn't been there to 'assist'.

This guy doesn't know what he is talking about. Kuhn provided virtually no assistance to Cobb. Cobb would have made the TD return without Kuhn's help. [happy]

Edit, not sure why I said 'moron' there, uncalled for and was not directed towards anyone. Maybe I hit the "moron" key instead of the "one" key??

I need to go find that lollipop loving owl , the one of all being knowledge to answer those questions with any certainty.

So.. Kuhn's part in the play may or may not have altered the outcome.. so can one really say with conviction the Kuhn didn't assist Cobb?

Randall Cobb was already regaining vertical balance before John Kuhn touched him. I don't know this for a fact, but after watching the play more than a dozen times in slow motion, I'm confident Randall Cobb would have scored regardless of John Kuhn being present.

It was a fantastic play and I had hoped we'd be watching it over and over because of it's awesomeness, not to argue about John Kuhn's assistance, or lack there of.

That said.. the topic at hand is if there was assistance.. therefore altered and the follow up question of its overall impact is subjective and unanswerable. You know.. following the topic of the OP and some followup comments. I guess I shouldn't have commented at all..

Who said it isn't an excellent play and who is not enjoying it?

You are right, no one is arguing, a little hyperbole on my part. It's actually a decent debate, and after all, this is a forum and that's what we do. My mistake there. And you are also right, the topic is a bout John Kuhn's assistance. My mistake was I only viewed the video, didn't read the text. 😣 <-- on my own error.

The video says the hit shifted Cobb's center of gravity outside his base of support, his legs. I think we can all see he wasn't outside of his legs but inside and there for could of caught himself.

The video also says three arms supported Cobb... do they not see that his foot was also on the ground?

As for Kuhn... I think the guy he was blocking got off of his block and hit Cobb... and the reason for the spin/roll in the first place. So he's mistake slowed Cobb up in the first place and looked like Cobb was gonna catch himself.

But Kuhn did then help the play... by get his feet tangled up with a Saint, who was catching up to Cobb while Cobb was trying to speed back up... Kuhn and the Saints' player got tripped up by each other... the Saints player was #35... who the Saints list as one FB Korey Hall. Both FBs... I wonder if they knew each other :-"

Kuhn did not help Cobb. It's clear from the video he was simply congratulating Cobb on the TD, without waiting for him to have first crossed the goal line... [grin1]
