The Packers organization banks a huge portion of their reputation and mystique on being sold out for every game for decades. So put it to the test: If Packers fans really are so loyal, all the games will sell out anyway. If they aren't, then the reputation is shown to be a bunch of hype caused by monopolistic tactics.

It's good to know that there are often tickets available outside the stadium, but I am not going to take time off from work/school, reserve hotel rooms, and drive five hours one way on the chance I might be able to buy a pair of adjacent tickets after I get there.

Don't you have to live in Brown County for the lottery to apply? That applies to all of 248,007 people, or less than 0.08% of the United States population.

Oh, and Kevin, what the hell is wrong with wanting to be able to buy a ticket for your own team, like you can at almost any stadium in the league? Why should my only chance to get a ticket be to be forced to wait decades for the privelge of buying a ticket for every home game -- including two preseason games -- an opportunity I would never have the money nor the time to avail myself of? I don't see any way to rationally defend such a system, particularly not from a fan's perspective.

What is wrong, EVERYTHING is wrong with wanting to be able to buy a ticket for your own team. It's the Packers fault those tickets are sold out. They should have a 2 year life expectancy rather than being able to pass them down to their kids, kids kids and so forth. It's absurd the Packers don't have to worry about blackouts, like most other professional sports teams.

It wouldn't be every home game, it would be six home games. Gold Package (Milwaukee) fans get two home games.

I don't really care for the system, but then again, anytime I've had the extra money to go to a game, I'm always able to find someone who's willing to sell a ticket or two. In fact, I'll be going to the Lions game when I'm back in Wisconsin late December/early January. Damn, I spelled January wrong the first time. That and Wednesday I always screw up.

I think I'll use the opportunity to buy each of my kids a share of stock. I already got in back in 97. Heck, maybe I'll buy another share to have the different certificates next to each other.

QUESTION: Does anyone own multiple shares of stock? I.e. Did anyone go and buy 200 shares for themselves, etc? Would seem an odd thing to do...just curious what someone's rationale would be.

Regarding the free tix, my uncle and aunt have received tickets 2 of the last 3 seasons from the city thanks to the lottery. Not bad.

What's the procedure for buying a share? I haven't been able to find any info.

I live on the other side of the country and will probably only make a couple of games in my lifetime, but I don't want to miss out on this. Thanks in advance for any info.

Regarding other comments, yes, the system is rigged, but if you ever read the bylaws, you really are an owner of an NFL team and the Packers are powerless to stop shareholders if they were ever able to vote the same way on a controversial issue.

No announcements have been made in regard on how to purchase shares; it remains to be seen if any will be offered. Right now the league has granted them permission to sell shares, that's all we know.

In regards to tickets, if you go to the Packers web site and click on TICKETS, select the SINGLE GAME option. The link will take you to TicketMaster where season ticket holders can sell their extras. If you're vigilant you can get tickets cheaper than what the brokers are selling them for. It's still supply-and-demand driven so don't expect bargains but the middle man is out of the picture meaning sellers can undersell the brokers.

I remember Dick Schapp, the famous journalist, writing after the last sale something like "this is the most stupid, idiotic thing I've ever heard of, anybody with any busines sense would never do this, it defies all reason, buying shares of stock that are absolutely worthless, that's what my wife said after I bought my share."

That's the point, Schaap was a huge Packer fan and he was making light of the fact even though it was worthless to him he wanted a share. You are right in that it has value to the team. It helps keep us competetive with good facilities and building the reserve without using taxpayer money.

I think it is obvious you complain too much. If it makes you feel better, you could go a good portion of a lifetime waiting for tickets too. Assuming you won't get any and using that as reason to not register is ... well you are Mr Thesaurus, insert one of your $0.50 words.

How much longer must you wait to get your season tickets that you've signed up for?
