This defense always chocks at the most important time in the game. Which is always either to protect the lead or to give up the lead at the last minutes to the game which has hurt us. It's bad coaching simple as that.

I'm sure you meant "Chokes" but I totally agree with you.

The defense played lights out second half against the Titans. Than the next two drives that actually MATTER they give up two field goals (one that was missed).

The defense gave us a lead and a chance to win the in the Vikings game, but we couldn't stop them on their final drive and AP scored.

The defense couldn't stop TB when we needed the ball back for a chance to win the game.

The defense couldn't stop the Saints after their first drive. They scored 8 consecutive drives after that.

The defense couldn't stop the Falcons at the end, despite playing very well the second half of that game.

And that leads us to this game, where the defense choked and gave up a touchdown 27 SECONDS after Crosby's go-ahead field goal.

So if you want to defend the defense, go ahead, but it's obvious they SUCK when it counts.

Valid point, although with the 20-25 mph gusts on the field, attempting a 55-yard field goal would have been dicey.

The defense hardly had to play the second half because the offense was dominating time of possession.

i don't blame him for that. i blame him for our offense's slow start, idiotic personnel moves, and for losing four games by four points or less. we win two of those games, we're in the playoffs.

Indeed, let's blame the O for failing to get those 4 points, instead of the D and ST for giving up big plays, big returns, and long runs that either went for TDs or set up short TD runs. [/sarcasm]

You NEVER go for it on forth and goal at that stage of the game, when you are tied.
That said.......I would have liked to see a QB rollout on 3rd down. At the worst you don't score and go for the FG.

But giving your D a 3 point lead with less then 2 minutes SHOULD be enough.
Our special teams SUCK. How many times has our kicker had to make the tackle? There's NO excuse for that. I was HOPING they would squib kick it there........but they didn't.
Our pass D SUCKS. They were great early in the year, but MIA recently. Injuries are probably the reason. Plus VERY LITTLE QB pressure........which has killed us all season.
Unless both the Vikings and Bears self destruct, our season is over.
Which is just as well, as i can't see us doing anything in the playoffs anyway.

I agree AADP, we should be able to trust the D after that happens. But one the FIRST PLAY, Delhomme throws an obvious luck pass that somehow comes down in Steve Smith's hands (maybe because Chillar wasn't even playing the ball? Did anyone see this? WTF was he looking at).

But I don't think that play started it, it was are porous special teams. A 40 yard runback when we try to hold them? Are you KIDDING ME? That's pathetic.

Well said Cheesey, I didn't agree with the call on 3rd. We practically lined up (no wideouts, two fullbacks, one running back) and told them we were gonna run up their gut. Not the smartest move especially since Rodgers was throwing so well (240+ yards in the second half).

Totally agree.

I think Mike Stocks' position has to be under review this season.

Especially after the latest JSOnline article where Stock came off like an egotistical jerk ("My way is right, do it that way or hit the highway" mentality) really soured me on him...

Last year we won two games by four points or less (Eagles and Redskins) and three others by seven points or less (Chargers, Vikings, Broncos). We weren't as dominating last year as our record indicated; and I don't believe we're as pathetic this year as our record indicates. Some years the breaks go our way, other years they don't. This year they aren't going our way.

But damn, the mistakes and foolish decisions aren't helping our cause any.

I do agree that the call to rush 11 on the punt was an awful, awful decision. Will Blackmon is a dangerous returner, and they didn't want to put it in his hands. I doubt he is going to take 13 seconds to return it that far.

I wonder if that call was on Stock or McCarthy...

"go.pack.go." wrote:

The Panthers have already had THREE Blocked punts this year. That was factored in on the decision to put 11 on the line.
