According to a source close to the situation, the Green Bay Packers are working on promoting rookie receiver Tori Gurley from the practice squad to the active roster in the coming days.

The source also said that another team was in talks to claim Gurley off the Packers practice squad. The team wasn’t named, but that likely helped give Gurley even more leverage to get onto the active roster

An undrafted free agent from South Carolina, Gurley has impressed coaches and fellow players throughout the season. When asked earlier in the year, many of the veteran players had nothing but glowing reviews for Gurley and his play-making ability. Gurley made a name for himself on the punt unit during the preseason, blocking several kicks.

Isn't this the guy who admitted a while back that one of the conditions of his relationship with his sources is that they will feed him fairly frequent bullshit rumors (i.e., disinformation), with the understanding that he is not at liberty to disclose which of the rumors he publishes are true and which are rubbish? Only a small proportion of the rumors on his site actually come true for that reason.

I don't see why they'd make a spot for him, even if someone truly is wanting to add him to their roster. Usually when that is said, it happens right away and we hear that so and so was activated BECAUSE of the interest. It's not normal to hear of interest from another team and days later the player being activated.

The Green Bay Packers will reportedly sign defensive lineman Keenan Mace to the practice squad, according to Bo Marchionte of NFL Draft Bible.

...

If true, this news would fall in line with the report from AllGreenBayPackers.com that wide receiver Tori Gurley will be signed to the 53-man roster.

Where's the spot for Torie Gurley coming from? Andrew Quarrless spot was taken right away by Graham Harrell. Heck, do we only have 52 currently?

Edit, Packers have 53. Maybe Pat Lee or Vic So'oto get cut, or So'oto gets IR'd?

I guess I don't see it happening unless Jennings injury turns out to be of the "not coming back this year" type. Which, by all reports so far, it isn't thought of that way by McCarthy. And even if somehow that changed and Jennings went to IR, I'm not sure the replacement would necessarily be another WR.

Pat Lee has been pretty valuable on special teams.. So'oto maybe, depending on how serious his injury is.

Unless Greg Jennings is put on ir, I don't see Gurley being promoted to the 53 man roster.

The good thing about this receiving corpse is the fact that all 4 vets can play any wr position.

Randall Cobb is the wild card here, I'm not sure if he has had time to learn all the positions but he has saw time in the "slot", so he can pick up the slack of losing Jennings for the rest of the regular season.(hopefully not that long)

If another team has shown interest in Gurley, then it will be up to Ted to make the decision whether to offer him a spot or letting him go.

I just don't see a spot available to him at this point, Clifton had a setback but it has been reported he hopefully will be ready in the next 2 weeks. That is the only spot i see available right now.
