Speaking of flamboyant WR's... two 49ers fans here are tired of him already ... him being of course Michael "the awesome one" Crabtree.

I don't know why the Packers would draft a RB in a weak draft class in the 2nd round. Unless he can play DE or OLB lol

I would love for them to change this MO. Please. I am a firm believer in running the football to win. Chew up clock. Wear the opponent down. Keep the DL honest. Run block with aggression and purpose. I question why we don't get more running plays in a game. Is it McCarthy not calling them, or is it Rodgers checking out of them at the line?

I bring this up because I recall thinking Sherman was to blame all these years for not running more to control games, only to find out years later, Favre was checking out of them. That I can see. What a dumb ass stat padder.

Grant has been a good Packers football player. Last year, he looked like he was running in waist deep mud with the exception of some early season games. Just don't think he has the speed a rookie might bring.

Really, all we need is a pass rush and we are in. Get a RB rounds 1-3 and maybe we miss out on a key component. Get that awesome RB, and who knows if he'll get enough touches to make a significant contribution? Our OL needs a better commitment to balls-to-the-wall run blocking, and having more running plays called IMO. It might help to save Rodgers by making Ds play more honest.

Holmgren consider screens and short dump off passes to the RBs to be part of his running game.

walter football 2nd round

Green Bay Packers: LaMichael James, RB, Oregon
It's scary to think how much more potent Green Bay's offense would be with someone like LaMichel James as an option.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

If Grant does sign elsewhere before the draft, do people here that will significantly increase the probability of the Packers going after a running back in the first three rounds, maybe even trying to get the Boise State guy in round 1?

Personally, I will be a bit bummed if Grant goes -- I'd rather have him starting or platooning with Starks than rely on Starks full time. OTOH, even if he does go, I don't want anything above a 4th going to a RB. (The only exception might be Martin if he falls to the late second, but that isn't going to happen.)

Worthy would be the long-term replacement for Cullen Jenkins, though I could see G.M. Ted Thompson going for a big-potential outside threat like Nick Perry or Shea McClellin as a bookend pass rusher for Clay Matthews. Martin is the kind of versatile cold-weather back who would fit the Pack perfectly. "He's this draft's Ray Rice," one personnel man told me.

I like Grant. I will miss him if he leaves but it won't bother me is he does.

that said even if he is gone GB needs DL/OLB help not another RB.

It would be a huge surprise to see Ted Thompson take James in the second rd. Hopefully, there a defensive player of better value at that point. I think there will be. Now in the third if Ted Thompson takes him, fine. Even though I'd still hope for a defensive player. In the fourth he might be too good to pass up - think Sproles. Actually I'd be pretty excited to get him in the fourth. He'd be a huge threat coming out of the backfield.
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?

LaMichael James would be a great fit to the Packers, if he was selected in the 3rd or 4th round. I'd prefer the Packers to take a RB in the later rounds rather than a WR...

Still hoping for a defensive pick in rounds 1-2. The only thing that I would consider offensively in round 1 is Peter Konz.

*Edit*

Forgot to post about Ryan Grant leaving...doesn't affect the Packers offense at all. :-"
