Today, i was driving down HWY 32 towards Grafton, when all of the sudden i saw something blowing all over the road.
MONEY.....LOTS of it, all over the place.
I quickly stopped and just started picking it up. Singles, fives, tens, twentys, fiftys......then a bank bag, FULL of cash.
I just looked at it, stuffed what i had in my hands and threw it into my car. Lauriejean tried to help me as much as she could, but still recovering from her back surgery, she couldn't move as fast as i could.
There must have been several thousand dollars. I saw the name on the bag, which was a church that was litterally right up the hill from there.
Two sheriff's cars pulled up behind me, and i explained what i had found. A few minutes later, a car pulled into the church parking lot, and sure enough, it was the man that had lost the money. He had put it on the roof of his car, forgot it, and didn't realize it was gone until he got to the bank where he was supposed to deposit it.
I never had that much money in my hands in my life. But i never thought to keep it. I could have "grabbed" it and drove off before anyone knew, but i wasn't raised that way.
Before the man showed up, i showed the bag to the cops and said out loud "I wonder why someone would have left it open?" then i noticed, the zipper was broken, obviously driven over by someone just before we got there.
The man and i walked the road farther down, to make sure htere wasn't any that i missed. I found another twenty, went to hand it to him, and he told me to keep it.
I know WHY God had LJ and I as the ones to find it, as HE knew we would do the right thing.
It's frustrating though, as God knows how much we could have used the money. But me, i could have NEVER lived with the guilt of keeping money that i knew who it belonged to.
It seems that when i do something right, something bad always seems to happen right after. I hope it doesn't end up that way this time.

Never a dull moment, it seems! LOL!

same as you. Give it back. But it hard to be harder for you since you have such a great need.

I know you know this.

Matthew 6:20

20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. (NIV)

They should use locked bank bags to transport money. The bank will give them to them for free.

There's no finer person in this forum than you Cheesey, and you just reminded us all why.

You couldn't have just tucked a couple hundred down your shorts for yourself, huh? 🙂

Thanks guys! You're replies humble me!
It was kind of funny.....they didn't seem overly thankful about it. Not that i was doing it for the "attaboy". I was just surprised. If i had made a mistake like that, i would have been jumping for joy if someone returned it.

But as Wayne said, "store your treasures in Heaven".

That's where they really count.

I'm looking forward to the day when i get to Heaven. Not because I'm some great person and deserve it, but because i often wonder what surprises i might have when i get there. Like people that i have witnessed to, that blew me off. Maybe someone will be there that will thrill me because they saw or heard something i said or did.
To me, that would honestly be priceless!

Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Do the Commanders risk losing a top WR with an emerging QB just because he's turning 30 and potentially risk damaging the rebuild from
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Turns 30 this September, plays at a high level and Washington has some cap space I believe
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin

Mucky Tundra (27-Jul) : @JacobMorley Shoutout to Quinn Ewers for allowing Matthew Golden to be available when Green Bay picked.
