Shields made a key third down tackle against Frank Gore, a tough runner who significantly outweighs him. I give him credit for that.

Seemed like they were playing Bush on running downs, Shields on passing downs.

Heck, at that angle, anyone could have tackled Gore. So no credit to Shields on that particular play. We got lucky Gore made a mental error when it should have been an easy first down for him.

Fact is, Shields didn't back down, he at least tried to make the play. And in fact, did.

Not a fan of either, but it's who we got eh? Shields is fast and Bush is like wannabe Woodson. It's just a let down to never really see any back up corner backs on this team step up.

Shields though was in the right place at the right time. Any NFL DB could have made that tackle.

I was right about Bush vs Shields. Bush is a better tackler, Shields is a better pass defender.

"After starting at right cornerback Sunday against San Francisco, Jarrett Bush fell out of the defensive lineup. Sam Shields started in his place, and rookie Casey Hayward came in when the Packers went to their dime. The means the Packers had two rookies playing extensively in their secondary, including Jerron McMillian at safety in the nickel and dime."

Imagine that, more Sam Shields, better defensive play. Shocked!

Edit, wait, LESS Jarrett Bush, better defensive play. lol

Nothing against Bush...he just isn't built of the stuff which makes a good CB.

I agree with Twinkiegorilla.

I looked carefully at a few plays where they had 3-4 WR set and Shields and Hayward covering out routes, whcih are difficult to cover easily and they did it perfectly. On a few of those plays cutler had time but the coverage down field was great. If Shields and Hayward play like that, getting house back and our safety play was amazing last night.

Bush just isn't good enough to start or play as a CB, I only accept him as a positionless special teams player

Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Sadly, this might be our life for awhile. I could put it on another host, but seems it was slower, although more stable

Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site will die, I have to restart it.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Quinn stinks. Lot of underthrows. (my guess)
beast (30-Jul) : How did Quinn Ewers effect where Golden was drafted?
dfosterf (30-Jul) : All I've experienced was late at night or early morning. I just figured you were doing something in the background
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site sure seems to be down more than up
