I love the talk about going out and getting a premiere FA along either line.. but lets be honest.. we maybe have one, I repeat one big time signing in us. That is unless the economic downturn effects the amount of upfront money these UFA will gather.. other than a couple of mind numbing signing by the Yankees.. MLB's free agents are seeing the action a little slower.

But we have a gluten full of players that will be due contracts after the 09' season, with the CBA questions stirring and revenue streams slowing, Green Bay won't be wise financially to try and buy all the talent in one offseason.. if a player fits and the dollars make sense.. then pull the trigger.

But I refuse to let my excitement of fixing our wrongs with a couple of big time signing cloud my reality.. we might have one impact signing in us this offseason, coupled with Jennings being locked up.. I will be ecstatic if even that much happens.

We have guys coming into their playing primes with a couple years under their belts.. time to have this staff get that potential out of them.. and a nice offseason stud to help shore it up.. maybe.

It would be interesting how the Packers would use Suggs. I think he's more of a DE in the 4-3 scheme and not a SLB. I would hate to see him in coverage as I think he'd get lit up, but as a pass rusher he's a 10+ sack guy in my opinion. I would probably move him all over. Mostly as a pass rusher, but on occasion as linebacker. The schemes Green Bay could create with Suggs would be pretty cool. He could rush from the end or blitz from the linebacker.

He's definitely someone I would have on my radar and I don't think the Ravens are going to franchise him again. He solves the pass rush and they the run defense would be priortiy No. 1 come draft day.

If you are going to spend Suggs money, may as well up the ante for Haynesworth....provided the team is confident he won't pull a Cleditus Hunt upon being paid.

For those of you saying Haynesworth would be a big risk...

Haynesworth is an upgrade over Pickett/Harrell/Jolly.

We all thought Charles Woodson was a big risk.

But he obviously was beter than Ahmad Carroll.

I say take the risk.

Pointless trolling post that serves no purpose other than to bash TT. There's plenty of FA aquisition threads, if you actually want to talk about which FA to get and what to give up, then head there. Otherwise this should be locked.

I think people are scared about Haynesorth because of Cledius Hunt.

For whatever reason Mike Sherman or whomever was able to create a myth that Cledius Hunt was actually a good player.

He never was.

Albert Hayneworth is a beast. I believe there isn't any excuse not to go after him and yeah I would offer him more money that anyone. That's how you get a guy like that.

I hate the Yankees, but George gets players to win. Would love to see Ted Thompson step up and sign Peppers and Lechler to go along with a good draft.

Here is my issue with Haynesworth and any big money deal given to him.. the Gurode incident wasn't the only time he has been in trouble for his temper and actions..

Lets be clear.. I would love him on this team, but the guaranteed money he is going to command and the position it would put the Packers if he loses it again..

Sign him to a protected contract of some measure.. great, but he and his agents aren't going to allow that with the market coming to him.

That is my issue and it has nothing to do with one lazy ass Hunt. The risk is too large IMO.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2610577

The 6-foot-6, 320-pound Haynesworth stomped on Dallas Cowboys center Andre Gurode's head Sunday, knocking off his helmet, then kicked and stomped his face. Gurode needed 30 stitches to repair the cuts left by the tackle's cleats, and plans to talk with his family about whether or not to press charges, his agent told Nashville police Monday.

Haynesworth's previous problems had been hidden from attention because they took place in practice. As a sophomore at Tennessee, he fought with a teammate and left practice, returning with a long pole looking for tackle Will Ofenheusle before coach Phillip Fulmer stopped him. He was suspended for a half of a game.

During 2003 Titans training camp, Haynesworth kicked center Justin Hartwig, now with Carolina. Charges for a road rage incident earlier this year were dismissed.
