First thought was will it be at Applebee's ... ha no.

GREEN BAY — The Green Bay Packers' all-time leading scorer is coming home. And no, his press conference won't be at Applebee's on Oneida Street.

Kicker Ryan Longwell, who scored 1,054 points during his nine-year career from 1997 through 2005 in Green Bay, has informed the team of his decision to retire with the Packers, general manager Ted Thompson announced Monday.

Longwell left the Packers following the 2005 season as a free agent, signing with the archrival Minnesota Vikings. He spent six years with the Vikings (2006 through 2011) and joined the Seattle Seahawks during the playoffs last year after Steven Hauschka was placed on injured reserve.

When he arrived in Minnesota, Longwell offended a few folks in Green Bay by telling Twin Cities reporters, "Every town in America has an Applebee's restaurant. In Green Bay, Applebee's was about as fancy as you got. When my wife, Sarah, and I would get a baby sitter, a nice date night was Applebee's. In Minnesota, I'm sure there will be plenty of options before Applebee's comes into the rotation."

...

Longwell, who ranks No. 13 on the NFL's all-time scoring list with 1,687 career points, will meet with reporters on Wednesday in Green Bay.

a guy posted this on the NFL.com page:

He must of been brain washed, he still thinks he's a PACKER! This needs to stop. The NFL needs to shut down all brain washing facilities, which are hidden in bunkers underneath the FROZEN TUNDRA.

personally I don't see it as a big deal. He left for more money and an easier kicking venue that's fine I understand it. But then he felt the need to insult the city after he left was nothing more than stupid. This "retiring a Packer" smacks as him wanting to make sure he gets into the Packer HoF as soon as possible.

Saying what he did, i don't think it's much of an insult. I mean, it IS the smallest city in the states with a major professional team.
And there IS a "Prime Quarter" restaurant in Green Bay as well!

beast (2-Aug) : I believe it's technically against the CBA rules, but Jerry just calls it a simple unofficial chat... and somehow gets away with it.
beast (2-Aug) : Jerry Jones is infamous for ̶n̶e̶g̶o̶t̶i̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ chatting with players one on one... and going around the agent.
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I assumed that both guys will get paid, just a matter of when or how we get there
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : the Synder years or do they take care of one of their own?
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Do the Commanders risk losing a top WR with an emerging QB just because he's turning 30 and potentially risk damaging the rebuild from
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Turns 30 this September, plays at a high level and Washington has some cap space I believe
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I would imagine Dallas will resolve this issue with a truckload of money

Mucky Tundra (27-Jul) : @JacobMorley Shoutout to Quinn Ewers for allowing Matthew Golden to be available when Green Bay picked.
