Packers overpaid for Charles Woodson at the time he was signed. A few years later and it looks like it's been money well spent.

To get a big free agent you have to pay them. I think this is the best free agent class since Thompson has been named GM of the Packers. The Packers have a lot of money. In my opinion the reason you let guys like Marco Rivera, Mike Wahle, Javon Walker, Darren Sharper, and I guess even Brett Favre go is because you want to clear cap space. This has been done and now the Packers have not only the money resign their own guys, but also to sign a few big free agents too.

It's not that hard to resign Greg Jennings, Aaron Kampman, and Nick Collins and then sign Albert Haynesworth and Jordan Gross. It can be done and I believe should be done or some sort of version of that.

You're not being serious, are you?

I really don't know what a cap is...never really thought about it.

I have a small idea of what it is, but not the hole package, lol.

As someone who used to do sales, I see Ted Thompson as someone who will bring in guys but won't close the deal. This has happened several times and I don't want to name examples or else it will bring back old arguments to the point of ad nauseum.

Money is not the issue. Brett Favre is gone. We have plenty of space, and we make enough in sales to be a positive cashflow corporation by far.

I completely agree with Porky. We have a good free agent class coming up. We have the money to sign are keepers like Gregorious and Collins. Is Kampy's contract coming up, Porky? If so, I was completely unaware of that. I thought he was secured for several more years.

Regarding Aaron Kampman's contract:

(It's powered by msnbc.com so I guess It's believable)

3/14/2006: Signed a four-year, $21 million contract. The deal included an $8 million signing bonus and contains $12 million in total guarantees. 2008: $2.9 million, 2009: $3.9 million, 2010: Free Agent

That's as of 3/14/06 as you can see...

I seen a good point about this could be the last capped year and we better lock up the guys now. But the bad thing is don't you think the players and agents know this also? If you were to become a FA in 2010 would you sign a contract now when you know that when your contract is up that you could get insane money then?
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

It is going to take cash to get a player like Haynesworth.

Just looking at contract like Tommie Harris and Shaun Rogers. It will more than likely take around 11 mil per year with 20+ guaranteed.

I would prefer a couple lesser FA at this point.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Yes, a Chris Canty wouldn't hurt. I wouldn't mind having him on my team at all. Even a Bertrand Berry wouldn't be bad. There's two quality depth players right there.
