Not a well known name in the group.. lol.

With Clay Matthews gone for at least a few more weeks due to a thumb injury and Nick Perry suffering from a broken foot, the Packers need linebackers.

And so they brought in eight guys who could play linebacker in their 3-4 defense on Tuesday.

The candidates were, per a league source, Victor Aiyewa, Alan Baxter, Demetrius Hartsfield, Jake Muasau, Justin Staples, Aston Whiteside, Brandon Williams, and Lawrence Wilson.

Did anybody really expect Ted Thompson to bring in established players/retreads/whatever you want to call them? This is the Packer way. Apparently only one of those eight was deemed worthy of our practice squad even though we had two PS openings.

Andy Mulumba has been one of my favorites among the rookies from the day he was signed, I think he will do fine. Palmer also has looked good. Those two plus Neal should be enough except for the prospect of even more injuries. Apparently Stoneburner is cross-trained for OLB in an emergency, and I assume Barrington could play there too if necessary. No need to panic.

I think a good portion of the Packers players were unknowns. I remember being duped by ESPN in favor of Chad Jackson who we heard quite a bit about and then he picked some kid who's supposedly slow out of Western Michigan instead. That turned out okay and similar things have happened in the past.

Plus, unknown is cheap! lol

As long as The Packers have "The Indestructable one" anchoring the middle, and making sure everyone is in place and knows their assignments, they wil be fine!!!!

I would like to see Sam Barrington get a few reps on the inside, just to spell either Hawk or Lattimore.

Actual game experience is so much more valuable than practice.

This time of the year I suppose it isn't too surprising that there isn't a well known name in there. Just hoping our LB injury bug is done for the season.
