A roundup of what's happening on the Green Bay Packers' beat.

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Packers have a long list of free agents; we detailed them last week in two separate posts -- one with the offensive players and one with the defensive players.

In an ESPN Insider piece , Mike Sando identified what he considered to be the top 25 "must sign" free agents. Among them were two Packers players -- defensive tackle B.J. Raji and cornerback Sam Shields.

I don't understand how he thinks Raji is one of our most "dynamic" players. Raji apparently can only do 1 thing fairly well (jet to the QB) and can only do it well some of the time if he's single blocked. That's also apparently all he even cares to do. That doesn't seem very dynamic to me. I don't think Raji is one of the worst DL ever or anything like that but we would have had a shot this year if the dude had actually been "dynamic". With the way Daniels played if we could have added just 1 more healthy guy who was doing good things on the DL it could have changed everything. Instead we have a guy who can only take on 1 blocker at a time and if he's getting blocked cannot disengage and make a play to save his life. Again not at all "dynamic".

Being able to stand there and get blocked without doing anything else ever is replacement level work IMO and is the kind of thing we can expect to get from guys like CJ Wilson. Maybe Raji will have success somewhere else but I personally don't see it. I would rather bring Wilson back for whatever he's gonna get than pay Raji even 2m/year so if he thinks he can get 8m or more somewhere else then see ya later.

Boy does he lose credibility. Without seeing the story I thought he was listing all the Packer free agents and then prioritizing them. This explains why Rob D only gave us Shields and Raji.
