At this time last season, the Green Bay Packers were preparing for training camp and the position battles that would ensue.  Tight end was not among them, as they had veteran Jermichael Finley in the fold and the annual talk about his having a "breakout' season was in full swing. In 2012, Finley had just [...]

Definitely a position many have their eyes on. We need someone who can perform all the responsibilities of a tight end and do them very well because we face defenses that do a great job of taking those players out of the game.

From a link within the link above.. Richard Rodgers may start?

http://espn.go.com/blog/green-bay-packers/post/_/id/10616/mailbag-could-richard-rodgers-start

Demovsky: If organized team activities and minicamp are any indication -- and considering they are practices in shorts and helmets, they may not be -- it would appear rookie Richard Rodgers might have the inside track. His size (6-foot-4, 257 pounds) and athleticism stood out during the offseason practices. At least once a practice, he made an eye-catching play in the passing game, and coach Mike McCarthy said of Rodgers at the conclusion of minicamp this week that "if there was one thing that jumped off for a rookie in the offseason program, I would say he was very productive." Now, he got more reps because returning starter Andrew Quarless did not practice at all this offseason, but Rodgers took advantage. He will have to show that he can be an effective blocker once the pads come on in training camp, but at this point he might be in the lead.

--- Wow, how thin are you at TE, if you're actually considering RR as the starter? I realize it's not the Packers saying it, but to know someone who follows the Pack as closely as Demovsky does is frightening.

Unrelated, but it was curious ol' Jersey Al didn't even bring up Lyerla.

Do I think he'll start day 1? No, I think these guys will need a year in the league to adjust and get the offense down. But I do think he can play.

I'm not knocking him...I'm knocking our TE group as a whole. It isn't very good if you're thinking about starting Richard Rodgers. Rodgers may be just fine but any rookie is going to make mistakes. We have no true solid option at TE heading into this year and it's scary a converted WR from Cal is our best option.

It is going to be a tough year for a lot of rookies due to the condensed off-season and decreased practices / reps. Aaron Rodgers is more concerned about getting in a good rhythm with Quarless the way he does with his other receivers. I would look more in the direction of the opinion of your starting Quarterback on this one.

Aaron Rodgers said many years ago that Ryan Taylor should have more opportunities in the passing game. That still hasn't happened.

Aaron Rodgers has spoken in grandiose terms on Jermichael Finley...we never saw the Jermichael he was talking about save for the playoff game in Arizona. Rodgers only spoke glowingly about him after that particular game.

Aaron Rodgers said DuJuan Harris was "special"... I think that's incomplete in my view but most would laugh at that, especially those who aren't Packers fans.

Aaron Rodgers has said some things about our D this offseason...Let's see if this D is actually any better now that they're not JV sized like he mentioned.

Aaron Rodgers on Ruvell Martin: “Ruvell Martin is a solid player,” Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said. “He’s probably our best blocking receiver, which is a very important part of our run game, and he’s a great asset in the red zone as well.” ----That great red zone asset amassed ONE TD during Aaron's first season as starter...and he added 15 catches and never played for us again.

The point is just because Aaron Rodgers says something positive doesn't mean it's going to happen, or that it's true.

Unless Quarless injury is something really serious I don't think anyone else will start right away. If they really like Rodgers I think we'll start seeing him get more and more snaps to prove himself in games and he'll earn it that way.

I really liked finley (Especially this past year pre injury) - but guess he is gone and wont be coming back.

Again I prefer tall dudes not medicore height guys (didnt we have a conversation about tall dudes?)

no idea how the TE position will pan out - but probably gods gift starts

Martha Careful (2-Aug) : Congratulations Sterling Sharpe. He was terrific and I loved watching him play.
beast (2-Aug) : I believe it's technically against the CBA rules, but Jerry just calls it a simple unofficial chat... and somehow gets away with it.
beast (2-Aug) : Jerry Jones is infamous for ̶n̶e̶g̶o̶t̶i̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ chatting with players one on one... and going around the agent.
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I assumed that both guys will get paid, just a matter of when or how we get there
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : the Synder years or do they take care of one of their own?
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Do the Commanders risk losing a top WR with an emerging QB just because he's turning 30 and potentially risk damaging the rebuild from
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Turns 30 this September, plays at a high level and Washington has some cap space I believe
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I would imagine Dallas will resolve this issue with a truckload of money
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : Micah pulling a Myles with trade request

Mucky Tundra (30-Jul) : Zero, regarding Ewers, you are correct.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Sadly, this might be our life for awhile. I could put it on another host, but seems it was slower, although more stable
beast (30-Jul) : How long will it be down?
beast (30-Jul) : RIP site 😭
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site will die, I have to restart it.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Quinn stinks. Lot of underthrows. (my guess)
