I just got a full look at Jordy's numbers...first year cap hit is surprisingly low, and 2nd year is even more surprising.

A cap hit of under 6 million for this year makes me believe Randall is soon to be extended. Of the 13.7 million we were under the cap prior to the deal, we still have over half of it left. Around 7.7 to play with. Plenty for Randall, if he's willing to take a deal. OR... Ted Thompson gonna give it ALL to Jermichael. [grin1]

That 2nd year cap hit is only 4.6 million... the way the deal is structured it looks like Green Bay is all in on Jordy for at least the first 3 years of the deal.

The last two years his cap numbers are: 11.5 and 12.5 million. Hard to think Jordy will ever see that in his early to mid 30's. Cutting him loose prior the 4th year would save almost a full 7 mil on the cap but leave 4.6 mil in dead money.

I'm a little surprised by the structure of the deal, especially the relatively big escalation in 2017 and 2018. You might expect it n the last year but the last two?

I think Jordy knows he will be a big candidate for restructure (or cut) after 2016

It looks as though they converted some of this years salary to bonus and used up a bit of the cap space but not much. I would have probably taken a couple mill off 2017 and pushed it to 2015 making it more likely that he sticks around for at least 4 years but hey, this is even better for the Packers. It now leaves them room to give Cobb a shorter deal (which I don't know why he would take but who knows) and if he blows up they can always cut Jordy in 2017 and give his money to Cobb to keep him.

Great contract that gives a lot of flexibility. Thanks to Jordy and his agent not being as greedy as they could have. Curious what Cobb's agent is whispering in his ear right now knowing there is money on the table, but could be a lot more if he has a monster season.

It just doesn't make sense they didn't cram more money into especially Jordy's first year UNLESS they're really planning on extending Randall, or someone else. Why leave almost 8 million in cap space if you're not going to extend someone? May as well have let Jordy take all of it and have all of his guaranteed money out of the way year 1, IF they weren't going to extend Randall.

The question is...Does Randall want one?

How can what happened to Jermichael not influence him a little? He's literally gambling on himself that he won't sustain a career ending injury. If he signs, now, he can get guaranteed money that will protect him if he signs...now. There's no way that isn't crossing his mind at least a little if not a lot. These guys are insecure and paranoid just like the general public and even more with what they have riding on the decisions they make.

Would you gamble in Randall's position or do you take close to 14 million GUARANTEED. You could get more later but you could also get zero. Tough call for Randall. I hope he chooses to stay and take the security now and I have to believe the Packers feel the same or they should've just pumped more money into the cap for this year on Jordy's deal.
