...for all the doom and gloom talk. Just look at all the pessimistic posts!

To me, that game was won except for a bunch of critical "what ifs"...

What if Burnett runs?
What if HaHa knocks down that conversion?
What if we don't go conservative so early?
What if Bostick blocks?

I am encouraged that so many correctible little issues are the difference between that painful loss and beating the eventual Super Bowl team in the toughest road stadium in the NFL.

It reminds me a little of the 95 team getting jobbed by the officials in Dallas. I KNEW that if they called it straight the Packers were a Super Bowl team and they were the next two seasons.

I also don't see the window closing...Rodgers is still young and most of the roster, which gets plenty of refresh each year, is still young and deep.

To paraphrase St. Vincent...it isn't that you get knocked down that matters, it's how you get back up.

What if Ha-Ha dropped the INT?
What if Crosby missed the 2 48 yd fg's?
What if Baldwin did not lose the fumble?

I don't know why I'm posting these what ifs. But during any given game, there are always 2-4 what ifs that could have change the outcome of the game. Our game will always leave us wondering WTF happened and why.

But my #1 "What If" is the first 4th and 1 on the fricken 11" line.......

Red zone troubles are new to this year
Giving up a TD on a fake FG, new.

The only problem I'm seeing that seems to follow us year to year is coming out in the second half flat.

A lot of those problems are correctable.
One problem that has been proven time and again not to be correctable, and that is McCarthy's coaching style.
He doesn't have the balls to crush a teams wind pipe and put them away.
I don't think that will ever change. He just doesn't seem to have it in him.

I am not sure it is in him to change.

Of the 3 phases of the game our offense is the best. Why we choose to change our philosophy in the 2nd half of games when we are winning is beyond me.

We talk about the Quarless drop as a killer. Why are we running a critical play to Quarless? If you don't want to draft/sign a top TE don't use them in a critical time. Those balls should go to Nelson or Cobb.

How do you think ok' Vince would have felt about CM3 being on the sidelined because he was exhausted when the game was still undecided?
Aaron Rodgers toughing it out on one leg, Sherman on Seattle with one arm, their other DB with a dislocated shoulder making tackles, and Matthews too tired to play?
Just a thought.

However, if he was on the sideline due to exhaustion, that might be because his balls were deflated.

Matthews is an awesome player for the most part, but I have some issues with him once in awhile.

What really sucks is that we were the best team in football this year, but it wasn't in the cards. We have the players in place to make a very good run. Get Bulaga and Cobb signed on offense and dedicate the draft to reinforcing the defense. And for the love of God, cut Brad Jones and AJ Hawk.
