Can they get him on the PS this way? If they IR he is lost for the season is he not and can't practice with the team?

Sounds like they do want Abby for the PS.

The fifth-round pick in 2014 will now be subject to waivers and can be claimed by any team in the NFL. The Packers won't know until Sunday whether he clears waivers and becomes a free agent.

If Abbrederis does clear waivers then the Packers are expected to re-sign him to their practice squad.
