How can you say Ted doesn't shoot for the best, when he drafted Jeff Janis? How many times did Elway pass him over?

Gee... Maybe some of you guys that are so smart should go and apply for the GM job. I mean, heck, you have ALL the answers!
And you KNOW that Ted Thompson doesn't want to win another super bowl! He's just there for the fun of being an NFL GM!

I'm sure Ted would like to win another one. Every GM would. What is he willing to do to get one is the issue? Is he willing to go all out for one or just hope for one betting on one of those "chances" we love clutching tight to?

Packers fans who want to see a championship are really really hoping he steps out of character and actually does something besides nap this offseason. He really doesn't have to, though, because we'll still have a "chance" if he does absolutely nothing like usual.

TT handles his management duties like he's spending his own money. Elway has no problem spending his owner's money.

I don't want the Packers to become like Washington and Dallas, but is it too much to ask to try and get an offensive weapon on the field if one is available, or get another legitimate pass rusher or pass protector in free agency? Ted Thompson takes his vacation the first week of free agency for God's sakes.

There was a coach that went to three straight Conference Title games, winning one and amassed a 36 - 11 - 1 record over that time period. Then prior to his fourth season, the ownership had decided to part ways with said coach and they went 8 - 8. That team hired a new coach who only won 5 games the following season and was fired.

It does not always work out like it did for the Broncos when you fire your head coach. And the new coach for the Broncos played little to no importance whatsoever. It was the defense led by Wade Philips (who wasn't even the 1st target for DC) that got the Broncso to and also won the Super Bowl. Something to consider when you think you want to argue this is the Broncos had 31 giveaways. THIRTY-ONE! Only the Cowboys and Titans had more.

Wade Philips and Ted Thompson have history together and I'm sure if the Packers let Dom Capers go after the 2013 season, Wade would have signed with the Packers. Wade believes if your scheme doesn't fit your players, it's the scheme that's bad. I concur.

You're referring to my guy, Jim Harbaugh. Hmmm. You do realize he wasn't fired for lack of performance, right? A similar situation to why we shipped Brett to the Jets. Harbaugh didn't get along with the management. He didn't kiss their butts like they wanted him to...he wanted to win. That is not remotely the same thing as the mindset behind what Elway did. Elway fired Fox because he wanted to get over the hump. That had nothing to do with why York fired Harbaugh.

I seem to recall we went 6-10 after shipping our legendary QB away, too...but it wasn't for lack of performance that Brett got "fired" and the Niners didn't fire Harbaugh because they had someone waiting in the wings they thought was going to get them a Lombardi.

Wade Phillips, like he says, is a lousy HC but a pretty good DC. With that personnel it'd be hard not to field a defense like Denver's. Expecting Wade Phillips to turn what we have into the same thing he had in Denver would leave people scratching their heads, I think. It is too bad, though, that we didn't snatch Wade up when he was out of football. Nope...had to hold onto Dom. We refused to change and we're stuck with Dom, for another year. That's so disappointing.

BTW, Elway sure seems to think Kubiak is why they got over the hump. I don't share that opinion. I don't share the opinion that it was Wade Phillips, either. It was John Elway putting winners on that field that got them over the hump. He went out and got 3 defensive studs in FA two years ago in TJ Ward, DeMarcus Ware and Aqib Talib...that is the definition of "going for it". That was done after failing to win a SB vs. Seattle. Did that fanbase and org praise itself for it's accomplishment of making it to a SB? Nope...it simply wasn't good enough for them and they added new better pieces to get there and then fired their coach, later, to boot...all in the relentless pursuit of what they achieved yesterday. Even had they lost, I would be so complimentary of Elway for really really trying to bring a championship to Denver. We haven't and won't see anything like that from our GM and you know that to be true.

Will see what happens in Denver when Peyton is gone. Seattle had the money and went for it, and now that they are paying Wilson we have already seen them decline some. Will see what happens as Denver starts losing players because they can no longer afford them.

WOW, now football pedigree makes the GM?

Elway lost Elvis Dumervill because he didnt know how a fax machine worked! That may have been the dumbest thing that any GM has ever done.

And I remember Bart Starr's years as GM [and coach]; ya cant get any better pedigree than that.

Its the same ole' new flavor of the month stuff. Every year a team wins the SB. Then they are declared a better organization than GB. At least when this was said about Seattle; they had a very strong team. Denver is the weakest SB winner since those goofy Giants teams and would have been 1 and done if Rothlesberger or Dalton were healthy.

Manning winning SB just before retiring seems more like a WWF script than a football reality. I'm just sayin'.
