Just like fellow draft analyst Todd McShay did two weeks ago, Kiper has the Packers taking Arkansas tight end Hunter Henry in the first round in his latest mock draft released Thursday.

If he's there, I'd definitely be tempted to take him. One of three key positions at which we need depth. Maybe two, in which we need starters.

I'm still hoping that Ragland falls to us. If not, they trade up to get him. It's about time we get ourselves a potential premier MLB and let Clay move back to the outside.
Realistically, it'll end up being someone we haven't even thought of yet.

There are no TE's rated in the first round. Ted Thompson is not going to reach for one like that. Sounds like ol' Helmet Hair Mel is going entirely on need, not on value, and Ted Thompson doesn't draft that way.

He doesn't look like Gronk, but he does catch just about everything that's coming his way. He's not Vernon Davis, but he does have some speed and explosiveness. He's just a very complete player with very few flaws.

I think a lot will hinge on his combine. He could just work himself up into the top 24 if he puts up some good numbers and be out of our reach, anyway.

The only problem is that Gurley had kind of the same situation last year and didn't fall nearly as far as some expected with the Rams swooping him up at ten. Very much like Ragland, I'm afraid Smith will be gone by the time we're on the clock, as well.

I wouldn't be against this pick. I tend to group tight ends with defensive linemen in that "not a sexy pick" category in the 1st round. However, after a year of watching Richard Rodgers lug around like he had poop in his jock, I want the Packers to go after an offensive weapon like Hunter Henry.

Each season I sit here and watch tight ends like Olsen and Gronkowski change the game for their offenses. Adding a 6'5" target with some speed, exceptional hands and decent pass blocking will do wonders for this offense. While I view Richard Rodgers the way I do, I think he would be a great #2 TE. Running double TE formations with these two would be insane.

I say all this with the thought of Reggie Ragland being gone when we are on the board. I would love to see Ted Thompson trade up for Ragland. I read an interview he had done and the kid actually wants to be in Green Bay. He has ties with Haha and Lacy and said he grew up liking the Packers. Just add all of that to how good of an ILB he is.

About 100% of rookie production is lost if an injured player redshirts or misses camp and half a season of practice. Even worse rookie production isnt realized until 2nd year; 2nd year production isnt realized until 3rd year, etc. And then a decision on the player's longterm value must be made after seeing 3rd years of production instead of 4.

And sometimes it takes 2 years for a players' confidence in the injured body part to return and sometimes not all the athleticism returns. And some guys never get over an injury [See Derrick Sherrod, Justin Harrell].

Imagine if we lost the CHEAP production of Shields' or Daniels' 4th year because they redshirted as rookies; and 3rd and 4th years if recovery took 2 years. And then try to imagine trying to have a meeting of the minds w/ their agents as to their long term value at the end of their 3rd year or 2nd year [if recovery took 2 years]. All it would take is one of 31 GMs to have an exaggerated sense of their potential and we'd lose them. Oh BTW, some teams MUST sign FA's to meet the minimum spending requirements.

Zero2Cool (7h) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.
Mucky Tundra (17h) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (17h) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (17h) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (17h) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (18h) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
Zero2Cool (18h) : You can have my 12th Rd for your 2nd round

beast (2-Aug) : I believe it's technically against the CBA rules, but Jerry just calls it a simple unofficial chat... and somehow gets away with it.
beast (2-Aug) : Jerry Jones is infamous for ̶n̶e̶g̶o̶t̶i̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ chatting with players one on one... and going around the agent.
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I assumed that both guys will get paid, just a matter of when or how we get there
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : the Synder years or do they take care of one of their own?
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Do the Commanders risk losing a top WR with an emerging QB just because he's turning 30 and potentially risk damaging the rebuild from
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Turns 30 this September, plays at a high level and Washington has some cap space I believe
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I would imagine Dallas will resolve this issue with a truckload of money
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : Micah pulling a Myles with trade request

Mucky Tundra (30-Jul) : Zero, regarding Ewers, you are correct.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Sadly, this might be our life for awhile. I could put it on another host, but seems it was slower, although more stable
beast (30-Jul) : How long will it be down?
beast (30-Jul) : RIP site 😭
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site will die, I have to restart it.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Quinn stinks. Lot of underthrows. (my guess)
beast (30-Jul) : How did Quinn Ewers effect where Golden was drafted?
dfosterf (30-Jul) : All I've experienced was late at night or early morning. I just figured you were doing something in the background
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site sure seems to be down more than up
dfosterf (29-Jul) : 50 cent hookers? I'm moving to Green Bay. I thought it was just real estate that was more affordable there. 😂
Zero2Cool (29-Jul) : Sure seems site going down more than 50¢ hooker
