We did a thorough review of receiver Davante Adams' analytics and the numbers aren't pretty. They make a case for him as one of the league's worst receivers.

This guy is a BUST. Those who think he's actually our 3rd WR and think that those who think Abby is better are just homers are flat out wrong. Davante is lucky Janis got injured or he likely doesn't make this team. I'm still not sure that he will.

Feel similarly about Richard Rodgers but not quite as strong as I do about Davante's ineptness. Oh, he'll probably hang for another year due to draft status but based on what he's actually done he should be out of the league.

Why Smokey? We don't have Gronk/Bennett here in Green Bay or anywhere near Jackson/Chmura. That only works when you have two very legit TE's. We may not even have one. I have high hopes for Cook here but he's never really done it anywhere before. It isn't the configuration alone...it's the players and the configuration. Justin Perillo and Richard Rodgers lined up at TE would make opposing DC's laugh out loud. Perhaps, Cook will emerge and someone will emerge with him. I like Perillo...he's not special, but he's reliable somewhat like RR. We need guys who make defenses have to defend them in special ways. Cook is the only one capable of that right now. Backman might become that. What happened to Mitchell Henry? Is he even a Packer? NEVER hear about that guy. He had some skills.

Our TE's ain't even great blockers. So, a two TE set to run isn't going to intimidate anyone either. TE is really a weak spot for us much like ILB was for years and S before that. We really need Cook to be what we think he can be.

Back to Adams, he is the very reason we were so terrible on offense last year. We took one of the best WR's in Jordy away from this O and tried replacing him with one of the very worst in the league. Had we used Janis/Abby or someone else more than we attempted to do with Adams our O would've been just fine. We saw a glimmer of that in AZ. Montgomery going down, too, was a killer blow as it forced more Adams being counted on and he wasn't ready and won't ever be. That 21 target performance of his will live in infamy. He's just terrible and a total millstone around our offensive neck. I was really hoping he would be cut but when I saw Janis broke his hand I just gulped because we're now far more likely to keep this bust on our roster.

EDIT: I'm with you Dakota! No bear poking. I just legitimately think Davante Adams is TRASH. ANYONE but Adams and I think statistical analysis shows that ANYONE would be an upgrade. Allison adds a dimension to the O. Adams actually subtracts.

Adams is a good example of how good a WR can seem to be playing for an elite QB.
Greg Jennings was a star, then he left then he was nothing.
James Jones was a beast then he left, he was nobody, he returned, he was good.
Davante Adams looks average with Rodgers so he is probably a really bad WR.

I think Aaron really likes Davante much like he loved Ruvell Martin. That's too bad. Davante is probably as poor of a WR, if not poorer, than Ruvell was.

I saw him a couple times in college and was blown away. I don't know what the hell happened since then, but to say it's been disappointing would be an understatement.

Davante has struggled to get separation. That's his big issue, imo.

His strength coming into the league was that he could go up and challenge for the ball in the air. I think he has adequate speed. Maybe he just need to work on his moves and route running in order to get open more.

Fact is, he's only gonna have to beat a #4 CB. We got Jordy, Cobb and Montgomery, although Montgomery is currently the #4 guy. So for now Davante will have to beat a #3 guy. And remember, Cook will be drawing coverage now too.

Adams has done nothing to prove to me he earns a spot.

As for 2 TE, I would like to see it often with this group now. Only with 1 RB so we don't get penalized each snap, and that RB being Starks.

Wr running quick slants if the coverage is off, or 5 yard slants if they are pressed. TE can clear the undersize by dragging a LBer with them into either flat. if both safeties drop Starks is left 1 on 1 with a MLB. If they try to blitz LBers we should have an easy 5 yards to which ever TE gets uncovered. If they keep a safety up to deal with Starks, Cobb and Jordy should eat up the secondary with YAC.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!
