So much for Eddie Lacy's weight loss. Lacy, the Packers running back who was called out by coach Mike McCarthy last season for being overweight, spent much of the offseason working on trimming down. Not all weight is the same though. Even with a bum ankle he was running better against the Cowboys than he was last season. Personally I would like to see him a little leaner around the midsection. I don't think the issue was really as much about weight as about his conditioning and by performance he appears to be better conditioned this year.

Will be interesting to see how this affects his free agency. I think the Packers are going to be reluctant to invest in him longterm if he can't even keep the weight down in a contract year. Running backs have such short careers now anyways, Lacy may be receiving his next and maybe his last contract with another team this off-season. He's looked pretty good so far this year but he's also peaked and may be declining.

Either way the Packers better be using a draft pick or two on running back in April. Starks is done and Montgomery is only a 3rd down back type. They need some new blood (good luck Davis).
