Is Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson ready to veer from his long-standing aversion to building his roster with a significant investment in free agency?

"From what I'm told," Rapoport said, "I would think the Packers are going to go and get some free agents this year along with trying to re-sign Jared Cook -- which is a priority for them."

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

I feel like we hear that same report from one of the national reporters every year...

Also Thompson checkbook is open and he spends a lot of money, just not normally for a lot of outsiders (but some outsiders he has brought in, have been very expensive). I think a case could be made that he overspends to resign guys.

No he won't. Not top shelf talent. Retreads and rejects sure. Line them up. But only after waiting and waiting and waiting.

Free agents are NOT the answer. We can't keep whining (not that you are) about lack of free agents when there are slim to none to acquire and those of which are worth acquiring are also being wooed by 31 teams.

Better developing of drafted players IS the best solution. Right now the talent has been drafted for defense and it has not been developed. The scheme is not utilizing (this is MY opinion) the talent we have on defense.

We all know Ted HAS dipped in FA, and when he has he's generally been extremely successful. Like most of us, I'd like to see more activity here as well. Clearly the defense is lacking talent. That said, the day one Mario Williams/Ndamukong Suh contracts aren't the way I want to see it happen, though.

The Ted Thompson has been successful in FA stuff is from a recent article. Your odds of hitting on a FA are better than hitting on a draft pick or UDFA. From the same article that lauded TT's hitting in FA when he actually does it was Bill Polian's study that showed FA's fail to work out 50% of the time. I'll take 50-50 over Ted's hit percentage on first round defensive players or over his percentage on hits in the draft, period.

There's no reason we can't have a Reggie White type signing. Why not? We can trade. Ted is a big time trader during the draft. Trade for a veteran then. Get us Keith Jackson or Brett Favre or Al Harris all guys who were traded for. This Gunter approach is stale. Oh, he's really faster than 4.7 and would've been a high pick if he ran faster. The shifts in logic here are crazy. Speed doesn't matter but Gunter would've been a high pick if he ran faster? If speed didn't matter then if he ran fast wouldn't have affected him being a UDFA. Let's use consistent logic.

Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I assumed that both guys will get paid, just a matter of when or how we get there
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : the Synder years or do they take care of one of their own?
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Do the Commanders risk losing a top WR with an emerging QB just because he's turning 30 and potentially risk damaging the rebuild from
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Turns 30 this September, plays at a high level and Washington has some cap space I believe
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin

Mucky Tundra (30-Jul) : Zero, regarding Ewers, you are correct.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Sadly, this might be our life for awhile. I could put it on another host, but seems it was slower, although more stable
beast (30-Jul) : How long will it be down?
beast (30-Jul) : RIP site 😭
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site will die, I have to restart it.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Quinn stinks. Lot of underthrows. (my guess)
beast (30-Jul) : How did Quinn Ewers effect where Golden was drafted?
dfosterf (30-Jul) : All I've experienced was late at night or early morning. I just figured you were doing something in the background
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site sure seems to be down more than up
dfosterf (29-Jul) : 50 cent hookers? I'm moving to Green Bay. I thought it was just real estate that was more affordable there. 😂
