(speculation) Aaron Rodgers on the GM

Listening to Jason Wilde on ESPN today (early morning hours before Brian G news was announced on Twitter) and a few things Jason said were interesting.

Jason was asked about the news and is it making Aaron happy or sad.

Ted Thompson not being GM is making Aaron happy
Russ Ball likely being the GM is not making Aaron happy
Joe Philbin coming back is making Aaron happy
Alex Van Pelt leaving is not making him happy

Also, something of note. Mike McCarthy has a rule that his assistants are not allowed to interview for other positions while under contract. This is why Alex Van Pelt chose not to sign a contract last season (2016) to be here longer than through 2017.

Jason says McCarthy blocked Alex Van Pelt (once, maybe twice), Ben McAdo (twice at least), Darren Perry, Joe Whitt Jr.

I could be wrong, but I feel like that's the NFL's general rule, to try to keep your own guys by blocking other teams (especially blocking division rivals). Though it would be interesting to know which teams and what years they wanted to interview them.

It's also rumored that Alex Van Pelt wanted to be a play caller again, and even if he were to move up to offensive coordinator, MM is still calling the plays.

PS: In the past when the QB coaching job was open... Rodgers seemed to be hinting at getting a former success NFL QB as his coach... it was rumored he was speaking about Rich Gannon... and now it's rumored Jon Gruden is going to try to bring Gannon in as a QB coach... and Packers have a QB coach opening... C'MON McCarthy! At least look into it McCarthy!

If Aaron wants to think about something, he should think about getting the ball out in 2.5 and hitting the open guy.

He has to hold the ball that long for his slow receivers to get open.
