Seems silly to discuss such a below market deal when it has been widely publicized Mack is demanding to set the new mark for highest paid defender.

Rumor has it that Mack is strongly pushing for the largest contract in NFL defensive player history. Which means he's looking to break Von Miller's $114.5 million mark and based on rumors he wants to average over $20 million per-season (and they're closely watching DT Aaron Donald who might also break Von Miller's mark).

So sounds like the minimum Mack is looking for is a 5 year, $115 million deal ($23 million per year).

Von Miller just got himself a ring months prior to getting that contract.
Khahil Mack does not have a ring.

I'm banking on Mack wanting a ring more than cashing in. He knows Aaron Rodgers gives you that chance. Even Jon Gruden is quoted to say 'We weren’t very good last year, on defense, with Khalil Mack.'.

Back to Miller's contract, he's scheduled to have cap hits of $25 million in 2019 and 2020 and another $22 million in 2021. Base salary is just ~$17 million each of those years. And there's an out in 2020 for the Broncos. Essentially making it a four year contract. I'm saying three year deal (and I even said the $29 million wasn't best example so back off [boxing] 😝 ) FULLY guaranteed with a legitimate Super Bowl contending team.

He gets one or two super bowl rings, then around 30 years old some team (e.g. Browns) sign him for some crazy $100 million after the 2020 season (remember, CBA expires after 2020 season).

What I'm getting at here is the allure of winning a ring, plus the FUTURE salary cap available of the Packers plus having that second 1st round pick in 2019 gives the Packers a lot of ammunition that with the right pitch to Mack and creative configuration of salary would not be as difficult as some are saying.

Back to Gruden's comment ... maybe Mack is playing hard ball in spite of Gruden and would take less with the Packers than he would with Raiders?

Every NFL player's dream is to win the super bowl. Mack won't be getting there with Raiders. He could be what puts the Packers over the top. The Packers can/should take some of a risky deal (saying go kinda crazy) because I highly doubt we'll continue our fortunate of Favre to Rodgers to ...

Besides, players like this have an over inflated idea of their own value and many of them think they are the missing piece that can put any team over the top. I think you are banking on a ring being more important to him just a little too much.

Like I said a 1st and a 3rd and Matthews I'd be fine giving up that for Mack but I think it is overly optimistic to think he is going anywhere with a cap hit of less that 20 million a year average and IMO that, coupled with the draft picks and Matthews makes it too risky of a move.

WHERE ARE THE SCRATCH AN SNIFF PICTURES!!!

Okay. I'm banking Mack wants a ring more than money based on the few interviews I've heard.

And 'every' was too strong. I think a vast majority of NFL players dream of winning the Super Bowl. There are certainly some who play because of the financial side of things. I just think those are really far and few inbetween because to excel at this level, you really have to work your ass off.

Bottom line, Mack wants money! The Raiders don't want to pay it. Packers need more money to pay Rodgers and acquire Mack if that is what they want to do.

Begin the trade by offering Oakland Matthews AND Cobb. It could free up money needed to seduce Mack who just wants to be paid (Big). Any other parts of the deal can be worked out.

Adams and Graham can anchor the GB Receivers as Montgomery/Williams/Jones run the ball. The WR2/3/4s will, IMO, be elevated by Aaron Rodgers. At the same time, a happy Khahl Mack would be teaming with Daniels and others to give GB a real and feared pass rush

A better chance at a ring/s is another sugar cube that may draw Mr.Mack to play in GB.

Where is it that Mack is demanding to set the new mark for highest paid defender. It's widely publicized he's demanding that so it shouldn't be hard to find. If Mack (or his agent spoken to it on his behalf --e.g. Mack won't accept less than being highest paid defender) has said it, then to say it's widely publicized it's his demand is irresponsible.

I've seen too many headlines get turned into reports and people inking articles referring to said reports to fall for this anymore. No one source checks anymore. Just read headline, take someones inference as fact and run with it.

Hell, maybe you are of the belief Mack is demanding to be highest paid? Maybe sites like CheeseheadTV get you to bite? I dunno.

Anyhow, this was funny.

Some times you are impossible to talk to, Kevin. I cited that article because it is essentially the title of this thread and it is fantastic article. It also mentions he's looking for 22 mill per year. His asking price has been written about all summer, in almost every article written about him and his holdout. If you can't find that, that's on you. It's way too hard for me to do the work for you on this garbage windows phone.

Kevin has a point. In a similar vein we can say its been widely publicized that Aaron Rodgers wants an opt out clause and a clause that keeps him the highest paid player ever year. However, many fans, myself included, have used Rodgers comments that those words never came from him or his agent that they are nothing more than media fueled speculation.

The article posted says "according to various reports" but doesn't cite any of those reports. Because I haven't read many articles regarding Mack and his demands I'm going to go out on a limb and say neither Mack nor his people have come out and said that is what he is asking for. Lots of people saying he is worth more than Miller or deserves more than Miller, heck even Miller says that but nothing from the horses mouth. In fact even if Mack has something to the effect that he thinks he should be the highest paid player doesn't mean that is what he is demanding.

So in a sort of apology to you Kevin I admit I was going off those same types of articles in my reply to you. I still believe that Mack will end up signing a deal close to if not over 20 million a year but that is more based on the trend of escalating salaries for top players than off of his demands. I believe he wants to be the highest paid player (but who wouldn't want that) but whether that is actually demanding that I can't say. To repeat what I said in another post though I don't think there is any way in heck that he signs for 29 million guaranteed 😁 😁 😁 . In fact I think that wherever he ends up his first check from that organization will be for more than that.

Until someone can point me to an article that does more than speculate about what Mack wants or deserves he should be afforded the same benefit of the doubt that Aaron Rodgers gets.

I do agree with gbguy though Kevin. Sometimes you are impossible to talks to. 🤲😉
