"First off every year is different. Like in 07 all the luck seem to be with the Packers winning a lot of close games. In 08 they were 0-7 in game that were within 4 points. It isn't clearly cut like your saying..... the better teams don't always have better records, luck also is a big factor......"

Play-off teams "MAKE THEIR OWN BREAKS" At the end of every season, the teams with the better record are always the better teams. That is why they keep score.
What The Packers lacked in 2008 compared to 2007 was what most young teams lack. The ability to finish off a game, the ability to win games you should not win.
Let me give you a couple of examples. 2007 Denver scores a late field goal to send the game into overtime.
We all know what happened, instead of playing it safe, and not being afraid of making a mistake, 1st play, bomb to GJ, Packers win.

Now let us go to 2008 and re-visit The Viking game. Despite being one of the ugliest games ever to watch, The Packers got their sh--t together and took the lead by 3.
Defense holds, Packers get the ball back AR is driving them down the fileld, but instead of going for a TD which would have put them up by 8, MM gets into field goal range and shuts down the offense.
Vikings go right down the field and score to go up by 1, once again AR has The Packers driving, they get to the 35yd line, and once again MM shuts down the offense, and settles for a 51 yd FG attempt, those of you who think any K should be automatic from 51 yds, just go out to a field and try to kick a 20 yd FG.
Play-off teams, or teams with over :500 records, have the experience and the knowledge how to win the close ones.

That is what MM needs to learn.

not gonna happen. Our GM will not sign any free agents this season. Ted Thompson is going to stick with the draft and the personnel on the current roster.

hopefully, this is Ted Thompson last year as gm

For shizzle! He's gonna make sure we have big holes for Grant and his signing alone makes Rodgers have an extra 1.2 second's in the pocket to pass!

In all seriousness though, who thought that Cullen Jenkins was a big signing or Scott Wells or Atari Bigby or Donald Lee or Tramon Williams, all of which have made a positive impact on the team. You just never know until you see them play on our team.

Hey now leave Preston alone that signing is taking us to the Big Dance. 😛
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

The Bears just gave away 2 first rounders, a 3rd, and a QB that got them to the playoffs for a high profile pickup. You should cheer for them this year!

So there is no FA that is going to improve us this year still available?

I would love for Ted Thompson to sign any FA that would be a starter, I'm tired of the fa signings being backups. I guess Smith could be a starter if Ted Thompson decides not to sign Collins and trades him.

Zero2Cool (13h) : it's crazy how one stored procedure to get data bogged everything down for speed here

Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder

Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I assumed that both guys will get paid, just a matter of when or how we get there
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : the Synder years or do they take care of one of their own?
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Do the Commanders risk losing a top WR with an emerging QB just because he's turning 30 and potentially risk damaging the rebuild from
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Turns 30 this September, plays at a high level and Washington has some cap space I believe
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I would imagine Dallas will resolve this issue with a truckload of money
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : Micah pulling a Myles with trade request
