1. Crabtree will, in all likelihood, be a very good receiver in the NFL. This isn't a Peter Warrick we're talking about, here.

2. Guessing what Thompson will do in a draft is about as useful as teaching a blind man sign language - nobody will get it right. That said, his track record thus far is taking the BPA and not drafting for need - if that holds and Crabtree is there @ 9, AND if there isn't another player the Pack have slotted higher than he is, then he'll probably draft him, no matter what our opinions on the matter are.

3. As someone smart pointed out earlier, you never know what you really need at this point - there was a lot of negative opinion when he picked Jordy last year, but when Jones went down I know I was happy to have him.

Finally, as 93Z has pointed out time and time again, the offseason isn't anywhere near over, and won't be after the draft, either. Perhaps Thompson picks Crabs and then some team who really wants him calls looking for a trade - if that team has someone that can help our D or our O-Line, maybe he makes a deal. Who knows?

Personally, I think we're good @ receiver, but I'll have to disagree with those who think he's not going to be good or is an iffy pick - I saw more than enough game film of the kid to know that he can play.

By the way, guys, it's "receiving corps," not "receiving core."

People forget about one thing about Crabtree, and that was he was a qb when he went to Texas Tech, so he has that qb instinct when it comes to routes. Heres a nice little video you might want to check out. Btw there was another guy that was a qb turned wr that turned out pretty good, Hines Ward seems to know how to get open.

Edit: I added this video i found and tell me he wouldnt be perfect in GB he catches alot of passes over the middle and the quick slants which should be our staple pass play like it was in 2007.

Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

This point changed my argument. I was initially against grabbing Crabtree until this came up. It also makes Crabtree looking good as a Packer and Jones or Jordy expendable. Personally, I like the sound of Driver, Jennings, Crabtree, Jones (I actually like Jones more than Jordy).

The whole premise of this entire thread will be moot by the time of our 9th pick, as Cleveland is taking Crabtree. We will be looking at a board that has Sanchez on it, and possibly Raji. We are trading back with Denver, in order that they can get Sanchez, not because Orton sucks, but because he might suck and that moron coach will need a plan B to place in front of those fans that are going to have to endure watching the Broncos get their asses beat repeatedly this year. Call it his "Ya but, at least we have our future QB-reach pick". He has to do it because SF might be thinking the same thing, the Jets the same, crazy Dan Snyder, etc. We are going to hang onto the edge of our seats and pray that Oher remains until we pick, Ted is going to pick him, and we will have another selection to address another need, reasonably early in the draft. How do I know all of this? Because I have to know this in order to remain reasonably sane until our next pick in the second round, where I fully intend to start the insanity process all over again, as soon as the card is handed in for the first round selection...that's why. :thumbleft:

And on draft day this will be the consensus of 90% of the PackersHome forum. Why? I'm not sure, call it a prediction.

Is that our very own Jordy Nelson we catch a glimpse of at the very beginning of the video?

And yet we still have members here who persist in ridiculing that pick!

I think you are exaggerating it a bit. Nobody is ridiculing the pick that I have seen at least.

dfosterf (13h) : tell her I reckon
dfosterf (13h) : Micah Robinson cut. Probable PS player tomorrow. Has to call mom back and t
Zero2Cool (15h) : New site so much better. Might make switch and deal with it.
dfosterf (15h) : Mecole Hardman to our practice squad
dfosterf (16h) : Nick Nieman from Texans our 5th linebacker. Special teams signing
TheKanataThrilla (17h) : Looks like we signed Clayton Tune as QB3
wpr (17h) : TKT people lose their minds over QB3. Point is almost none of them are ready that's why they are on the PS and other teams don't take them.
TheKanataThrilla (18h) : Unfortunately he doesn't seem ready to be an emergency QB.
TheKanataThrilla (18h) : As a Canadian and a follower of Canadian University football. I am rooting for him
dfosterf (18h) : I bet a lot of us will follow the Taylor Elgersma journey with interest. Personally, got a Kurt Warner vibe goin' on. I like him
TheKanataThrilla (18h) : Not sure if either will be claimed though.
TheKanataThrilla (18h) : Tune or Hooker would make sense
dfosterf (18h) : Clayton Tune cut by the Cards? Don't know if that's the guy, we shall see
TheKanataThrilla (18h) : Per Bill Huber, the Packers will not be bringing back Taylor Elgersma or Sean Clifford on the practice squad, so a new third quarterback
Mucky Tundra (19h) : Schefter must have deleted his tweet
dfosterf (20h) : Hopefully Jerry reaches under the seat cushions and ashtrays of his jet and scrapes up the 45 million apr and spares us further nonsense
dfosterf (21h) : Have to admit the PO'd Cowboy fan videos would be fun to watch. Problem with draft picks is half their fanbase barely knows what that is
beast (21h) : I think Cowboys fans are ready to get their pitch forks and burning sticks if Jerry were to trade Micah
dfosterf (21h) : If Jerry traded Micah to GB, here in northern Va. they would have to quick build yet another data center to handle the internet hate traffic
Zero2Cool (21h) : its signing and trades that you don't hear about, other then announced
Zero2Cool (21h) : If you hear rumors about Packers sign or trade, won't happen. Not how they work
dfosterf (21h) : 19 players in a contract year. Jones called loss to us worst loss in Cowboy history. Forget Parsons trade. Not happenin' Cap'n
packerfanoutwest (23h) : The Packers, meanwhile, are the youngest team in the league for the third consecutive year.
dfosterf (27-Aug) : That it was darkest before the dawn in Bengals and Commanders before they got deals done
Zero2Cool (27-Aug) : what is Schefter saying?
dfosterf (27-Aug) : He was getting Dorito infusion therapy
dfosterf (27-Aug) : He's outta shape. Why, just the other day I saw him splayed out on the trainers table
Mucky Tundra (27-Aug) : Parsons has followed Rasheed Walker on Twitter. Quite the choice
Mucky Tundra (27-Aug) : Kuhn is a former player who works for the team, if somethings going down, he would be close to it
Mucky Tundra (27-Aug) : @kuhnj30 Micah Freaking Parsons
Mucky Tundra (27-Aug) : A LOT of buzz on the Bird App regarding Parsons; even Schefter is saying it's serious
dfosterf (26-Aug) : *Orzech*
dfosterf (26-Aug) : Orzich long snapper 3 yr extension
Zero2Cool (26-Aug) : Packers signed someone for three year deal

Mucky Tundra (26-Aug) : WE WANT THE LIST! WE WANT THE LIST!
Zero2Cool (26-Aug) : @JJLahey · 2m Holy crap, Packers, where the heck is the list?
Zero2Cool (26-Aug) : haha folks on Tweeter every year this time ... 'where is list Packers!!" hahaha
wpr (26-Aug) : He played pretty good.
Zero2Cool (26-Aug) : NAZIR STACKHOUSE HAS MADE THE 53
Zero2Cool (26-Aug) : NOOOOO KALEN IS GONE
Zero2Cool (26-Aug) : Kalen King and Kamal Hadden making it. me thinks
schroeder84 (26-Aug) : @dfosterf I suspect Elgersma WILL be hard to hide. Raw, but talented
Zero2Cool (26-Aug) : pp.com is broken, halt testing, gotta go do work things for a bit
hardrocker950 (26-Aug) : Mecole Hardman was released, to the surprise of few
