I feel that claim about the fastest WR group is misleading. I'm guessing the addition of Tavon Austin really bumped that up, lol.

IStill, every team needs someone to go long and stretch the field. MVS. He may not catch the ball but he takes 1-2 defenders with him on every deep route.

I remember doubting that, but at the same point thinking the writer should know more than me.

But if true, damn Adams has been extra impressive! And it's disappointing MVS hasn't done more... then again, that's why I'm also doubting it. If teams are going to specifically double Adams, and leave MVS one on one, wouldn't Rodgers be taking more shots to MVS and less to Adams? So I'm kinda doubting it, but I'm unsure.

It would be helpful to see what we have outside of Jones before we make any type of decision, but unfortunately Dillon has spent most of the year either on the pine or the Covid protocol and Dexter has talent, but hasn't seemed to pick up all the other duties required of an NFL RB. Jamaal Williams has been pretty good and seems like a great guy, but he is also a Free Agent. If we are in win now mode it would really make sense to try to find some way to keep Jones. The idea of using the Franchise Tag makes sense to me to either tag and trade or just to buy another year. Not sure how Jones or Rosenhaus would react to that type of move by the Packers. Would he hold out like Zeke did when he wanted a long term deal and security?

Can move great, but you got to be decent at reading blocks as the holes will only be so big most of the time.

RB Patrick Taylor is basically redshirting for the Packers after having off-season foot surgery. He was undrafted, and was not consistent in college as they moved guys around a bit, but I thought he'd be drafted, as he's got nice physical potential, not sure if he'll develop or not, but I think he could make a run at one of the last roster spots and be a PS guy if nothing else. Assuming he can stay healthy.

That's one negative with Dillon, he's so big that you'll need a bigger hole lol, but he's got a lot of power and straight line speed, probably needs to work on quickness and block reading, but he's not bad either. Would be nice to get him more invovled, as I think we might need him for physical DLs, especially if they got speed LBs (Buccaneers)... as well as Titans, Bears and Rams can have some physical DL too... Bears have speed ILBers (their starting DL was out last game, one via opt out with Covid, the other injured).

I still need to see the Franchise Tag Cost... PFT wrote a piece on Vikings RB Cook suggestions teams potential could franchise tag a RB twice and save money vs the current RB market. If true, I'm looking at that for RB Jones, at least for one year.

Yes Jones agent will absolutely hate being franchise tagged, but we're not Jerry Jones where his ego needs to be signing all the big named guys... if Jones holds out of training camp, that's his right. And I believe the new CBA made holding out worse for players (which Jerry Jones led from the NFL side, probably thinking of his guys holding out).

But I think we need at least one year of lighting and thunder with Jones and Dillon. And if you give Jones a large 4 year deal, that will make it harder to resign Dillon, 3 or less might be preferred.

So 10.8m in year one and 13m (20% raise) in year two if franchised twice. Or a little under 12m average. Theoretically, the average would be lower than say, a 3 or 4-year contract with 13m yearly.

However, a longer-term contract would likely be backloaded to some extent, so using the franchise tag twice may not save money over a two-year term, depending exactly on how it was structured.

A ~13 million a year contract could be reasonable if it was structured sensibly. Let's say cap numbers of 8, 10, 15, 18, in years 1-4, with a clear out in year three (minimal or no guarantees) so they would have to make a choice to keep or cut him before that 15m number gets on the books. That would basically be a two-year contract with the option to keep him around longer if he turns into a mega superstar. That said, I don't know enough about how this typically works to know what would be reasonable to expect.

For reference, Dalvin Cook signed a 5 year, 63m extension with 12.6m per year, and 16m guaranteed. His cap numbers look like: 5.2, 12, 14.1, 15.6, 13.5. I think Cook and Jones are similar players, so I would expect Jones to get a contract that looks something like Cook's (whether from GB or another team), assuming he doesn't get franchised.

people keep saying things like Aaron doesn't have the weapons and the o-line. He went on to show how our o-line is #1 with winning pass blocks and also run blocking.

Further, I think its below average. IMO, it scores better because of the danger 12 posses to a defense, i.e. they lay back more than they otherwise would. When we face strong healthy D-lines (i.e. playoff calibre) , we simply don't get it done on a consistent enough basis.

beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔

dfosterf (5-Aug) : I'm going to call that a good move.
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Packers sign CB Corey Ballentine
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
