GREEN BAY, Wis. -- All offseason, the Green Bay Packers preached patience with new starting quarterback Jordan Love. That was the mantra with everyone from general manager Brian Gutekunst to coach Matt LaFleur and even some players.

Patience now has a timeline, at least for how long it might take to find out whether Love can extend the Packers' 30-year run of MVP-level quarterback play from Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers and beyond or if they will have to search for another quarterback perhaps as early as next offseason.

"I'm comparing it a little bit to Aaron's first year as a starter, yeah, I'd say at least half a season to know," Packers President Mark Murphy said Monday. "And I think even though we ended up with a losing record that year, but we saw enough of Aaron to know that we had something special."

---- from different article ---
"I think, offensively, you're going to see probably a little bit more of Matt's true offense," Murphy said two days before the Packers' first training camp practice. "Obviously, when you have a great quarterback like Aaron and somebody who's been in the league as long as he has, we gave him the flexibility to change plays and get in and out of things that really helped, but I would anticipate a strong running game and play-action off of that."

When he says "at least half a season to know" about Jordan Love. Based on what players and coaches have said. You know if a guy doesn't have it a lot sooner than you know if he does have it.

The quote I injected (didn't want to make new thread) about Matt's offense really has me thinking Mark Murphy is being more a fan like the rest of us than CEO, lol. Kind of stoking the flames of what's been inboxed to him via Packers.com

As Rodgers wanted the freedom to read and snap the ball when he desired, which as we have noted, lead to us the fans knowing he wasn't snapping that ball until AFTER the play clock his 5 seconds left. Usually in this scheme they mix up the tempos more, add some quick snaps, mix it up more.

And there absolutely have been times, (at least where I feel) defensive coordinators knew they could give Rodgers certain looks, and he would refuse to do certain things out of that look. Such as I believe some defensive coordinators have purposely given run defensive looks knowing darn well there is a 85% Rodgers wouldn't run the ball with that defensive look, and therefore would tell the players to ignore the run and get to the QB out of that defensive run look.

Where usually in the wide zone, QBs traditional have less control, as Rodgers stated during his first year with LaFleaur because you can't audible as much because they're rotating personnel packages a lot more, 3 WRs vs 2 TEs etc.

Aaron Rodgers openly said he doesn't like bunch or motion because he rather the guys line up so he can read the defense pre-snap. I get what he's saying though. He's Elite QB and I think the offense is more geared at making Average QB's look like Good QB's, or at least produce as such.

Matt LaFleur on Jordan Love: “He definitely has complete command of our offense.”

If true and not coach speak. I think this is kind of huge. You wouldn't give the full control tot just any QB, right? Or do you need to give the QB full control to fully see what he can do?

The reason they went 6-10 Aaron's first year was injuries to the defense. People keep saying that, like Aaron had something to do with it.

Jordan Love is going into his fourth year, so there should be absolutely no question that he has control of or grasp the system at this point.

That said, I don't think they trade Rodgers if they are concerned that Love can't handle or command the offense effectively. So even though it's a bit of a cliche to say he has command - it probably has some truth to it as well.

Zero2Cool (8h) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.

Mucky Tundra (18h) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)

Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : the Synder years or do they take care of one of their own?
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Do the Commanders risk losing a top WR with an emerging QB just because he's turning 30 and potentially risk damaging the rebuild from
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Turns 30 this September, plays at a high level and Washington has some cap space I believe
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin

Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Quinn stinks. Lot of underthrows. (my guess)

dfosterf (30-Jul) : All I've experienced was late at night or early morning. I just figured you were doing something in the background
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site sure seems to be down more than up
dfosterf (29-Jul) : 50 cent hookers? I'm moving to Green Bay. I thought it was just real estate that was more affordable there. 😂
