- What does he do?
... from what I have seen
a. he runs very fast
b. he has great blockers
c. he jukes and often causes tacklers to miss him
d. can often plow through tackles also

- How good is the viks Oline in helping the run game? Are they really that good or is it mainly the man bringing the play?

ie like barry sanders is said to have done most of it himself and his line only helped marginally

...

Obviously our goal will be to stop adrian peterson this next season. And our new guys should be able to help.

I also wonder if we can develope a running game that is a contender. Using jackson and wynn (ya I like these 2 better then grant). I'm wondering if our new OL guys can help bring a better running game to our team.

What do you guys think?

Is he the best RB in the NFL? I think that guy in the Titans is just as good if not better. Hmm ... but yeah AP is pretty amazing. His thing is that once he gets to the second level it is usually a home run.

I think he is the best running back in the NFL. What makes him so? I try not to dwell upon it, largely due to the fact that I do not like it. I still want my celebration penalty, not because I find it a particularly heinous offense, but rather we apparently need such things in order to deal with the likes of an Adrian Peterson. (Sorta like my Williams wall argument)

I have heard it said that he can "disappear" in games, seeming to imply that he is taking plays off, or some-such. If he has ever done that, I wish he would be kind enough to do it when he is playing us. I have never seen it.

The only thing I have ever seen that has slowed AD/AP down is when that moron (imo) Colonel Klink takes him out of games prematurely. Unfortunately even that idiot has cut down on that nonsense, so if anything, AD/AP is even more of a threat to us.

He goes into the category of "hated player", which for me, is definitely a compliment.

Steve Slaton, Chris johnson and Matt Forte are well on their way to being top backs in this league and possibly contending with him for that title......well maybe.

1. IMO (and I'll spare you my lengthy diatribe about why my opinion is so very valid when it comes to running backs, here), he's easily the best back in the league. Why?

2. God-given stuff: He's 6'3", 225+, has gazelle-like speed (his size and upright style don't make him look as fast as the Titans' guy, but he's close), and terrific body control/balance, especially for his size. Sanders used his freak-like body control better than anyone before or after him, but he was also my size - you simply do not see that kind of grace in a bigger back. Or you didn't until Peterson came along.

3. What separates him from guys like LT is that he's nasty - I don't know if he watched Payton as a kid, but he takes on tacklers like Sweetness used to do - and that's truly rare in top-level NFL back. Most of them will go out of bounds to avoid contact and save themselves for another play - not AD, he wants every single yard and he'll kill you to get it. The downside to this is that he's exposing himself to more damage that could limit how long he can play, and he's more prone to fumbling because he's working so hard not to come down.

IMO it's the combination of exceptional physical gifts, intense drive, and that nastiness - that's what makes him so good.

Slayton will be coming on for sure and Chris Johnson can be special (can be - please see Chris Brown for the other possible result), but pound-for-pound Peterson is currently the premier back in the NFL.

The one thing that defines him as an elite RB to me is his ability to make the cut. My goodness, his instincts and physical talent in finding the holes is incredible.

Let me guess your a Rodgers fan also because the way you look at things one season makes for a great player.

AP reminds me of an older back that was pretty damn good in Eric Dickerson they both are big backs and run up right but very fast.

My 2 favorite backs to ever watch were of course Barry and Marshall Faulk they both seemed like they knew what cut they were making before they made them.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)
