I'm worried about Hester returning punts. Cutler will throw some interceptions. Let's say three, one to Woodson and one to Collins, at least.
The new defense will get to go up against live bullets for the first time ever. So that's kind of exciting.
Excited to see the offense too. I'll be watching for Finley's coming out party.

I'm not worried about anything in particular, because the Bears don't beat us with anything in particular. Instead, they lead us into some kind of twilight zone where the Packers lose all sense of time and space and start making stupid plays. Fumbles, interceptions, blocked field goals, you name it.

If the Packers come out confident and play their own style of football, and more importantly, KEEP PLAYING THAT WAY, they should win this game by a couple of touchdowns or more. The Lambeau Field crowd will be going crazy and the Bears' secondary is a mess because of injuries. This is the Packers' game to lose, but if they falter, the Bears will be right there to snatch it away.

Players to worry about are Devin Hester (on punt returns), Jay Cutler, and Greg Olson. I won't mind if the Bears put together a couple of long scoring drives, but I think the Packers can hold that offense to 17-20 points. If they do that, the Packer offense should provide plenty of points for the win. But if they allow big turnovers and big punt returns, it will be a whole other ballgame.

Prediction: Packers 38, Bears 19

I'm confident we'll win the turnover margin. I'd like to make sure we can stop the run during live action. That's my big thing.

Stopping the run. That's the one I worry about. The offense should be JUST fine. 🙂

1. Packers run blocking vs. Bears run defense

The Packers can win without having a great running game, but they could dominate if they can get a balanced offensive attack. I want to see the new offensive line show that they can actually overpower an opponent. If so, Grant could have a solid game.

2. Bears run blocking vs. Packers defense

I'd like to see the Packers shut down Forte, but I don't know if that's going to happen. They need to contain him. I think he's a tad overrated when people talk him up like he's the second best back in football, but he's good and he could do some damage to the Packers especially if they don't contain.

That brings me

3. Reverses and Misdirections

If I'm gameplanning to beat the Packers, I'm calling Hester on a reverse or Forte on a misdirection. This defense is way to aggressive at times. I like that, but I also want to see discipline.

4. Pressure Cutler

The reason why the Packers stunk in the 4th quarter was they couldn't get any pressure on the QB. I want to see that. I want to see Cutler running around like he's clueless and I want to see some 4th quarter sacks. The defense needs to put the game away if given the oppurtunity.

I hope they shut down Forte and watch the TE play. We seem to get killed by dink and dunk. I don't think Hester is much of a receiver. Yeah, the guy is fast but I think our secondary can more than handle him. I do think it's the Packers' game to lose, but I also think it will be a close one.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/picks  At the time of this post it is unanimous without Mort's input.

edit: Also, I wouldn't mind seeing McCarthy running up a big lead on them. 17-20 points if possible. Of course I'm not comfortable unless we're up by 42.

What aspect of the Bears football team concerns you the most in this early season tilt?

I would say it's the desire.... some team just get excited to play certain teams or certain players... and well it seems like the Bears get excited to play the Packers and almost always bring their "A" game against the Packers... and seem like the Packers don't all way get excited to play the Bears...

#1 concern is stopping the run, we got torched by Beanie Wells

#2 is if they have Hester returning kicks this year

#3 Can we count on Crosby to make kicks

#4 Being to over confident because of the success in the preseason

Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
