Totally - I don't think he was planning on having to carry the whole team on his back. Take away Woodson and this team is a woeful-looking 0-2 club.

Losing is never acceptable. Losing at home is pathetic. But, I would prefer they got the stinkers out of the way early, stay in contention and be playing their best football at the end of the season. I'll wait another couple of games before getting panicky.

There are some kinks here and there, but apart from the O-line, the team overall wasn't that bad. The defense just had some huge gaps and failed responsibilitie (I think). Especially with both Rouse and Bush in at the safety position. Some early defensive conversion struggles. Maybe the huge playbook is getting up with them. They obviously didn't have to worry about that in the pre-season.

Whatever the reason, they looked out of sync. Especially if you look at the pre-season games and week 1.

The only real problem we have on this team is the one that has been talked about tons of times already, the O-line.

The record or this loss really doesn't bother me..

Getting our collective asses kicked along the line of scrimmage on the offensive line for two straight games does.

A emotionless defense does.. probably the most disappointed today with this aspect... oline I sort of expected.. not a "flat" defense past Woodson and Matthews.

True - I'm giving him too much credit for the Bears game. That was a good-to-great effort from the whole defense. I'm going to stick by my assessment when it comes to the Bengals game, though - he was one of maybe 4 guys who looked ready to play that game.

knowing the scheme does not beat executing the scheme.


The sixties Packers ran sweeps. They knew it. The defense knew it. THe crowd knew it. Hell, even the Russians knew it!


But nobody could stop it.

No excuses for this loss. We pretty much got beat in almost every facet of the game yesterday. That being said, I'm not going to throw in the towel after one bad performance.

I think how we come out and play against the Rams will give us a good indication of where this team really is at. They know as much as anyone they need to come out and have a good performance as the Rams are still a pretty bad team.

I'm hoping after these two games though that Thompson is strongly considering picking up the phone and getting Tauscher back in here. He might not be ready to go right off the bat, but it wouldn't hurt to have him finish his rehab with the team in hopes we could possibly get him back after the bye week. Guys like Dietrich-Smith are probably going to be inactive most game days anyways, so cut one of these inactive reserves and get Tauscher in here and ready to play. He certainly can't hurt imo.
