More of nothing. Why not bring some guys in with a track record of something?

"Stevetarded" wrote:

lol sorry I have to do this ...

Because there's so many NFL caliber Tackles with experience out there for us? :P

"Rios39" wrote:

What about a few of the guys we just worked out?

"Stevetarded" wrote:

You can't really sign a "guy with a track record of something" to your practice squad.

"Rios39" wrote:

I think we should be more interested in signing someone to our actual roster. Not the practice squad. This stuff should have been taking care of months ago.

"Zero2Cool" wrote:

So why even worry about who gets signed to the practice squad?

"Rios39" wrote:

Well I'm not. But we need help at RT and with Line depth in general. It needs to be addressed like yesterday.

Ted Thompson should work a trade for Joe Thomas!

Randy Moss. 8 bazillion pages on the various forums...meh..Didn't participate.

Tony Gonzales. Pretty much the same, nice to have, but...meh.

Joe Thomas. Now if THAT got on the horizon to the degree of being worthy of discussion, count me IN!

Packers General Manager Ted Thompson talked with Tauscher during the summer about his rehabilitation and didnt rule out re-signing him. But despite the Packers recent problems on the offensive line, there has been no indication the Packers are interested in Tauscher.

Thompson also didn't rule out signing Vick. People point to Thompson's talking to Tauscher as evidence he's interested in signing him, but as history has shown, Thompson's discussions with any one player mean nothing whatsoever.

Why not just try him at RT? Makes the most sense. I feel that Barbre can't play at this level and appears to be our biggest place in need of replacement ASAP.

"Rios39" wrote:

I couldn't disagree more. I think Barbre has shown an ability to get better and has played much improved since week one. Our left side is what's hurting. Our best running attack is off the right side, so Barbre is doing something right there. We can run to the left, but gerneally in the A gap inly, or B gap with a FB lead. So i don't believe Barbre is the need of biggest replacement. The left tackle we are boned right now. We need Colledge back at guard and get that LT slotted somehow.

+1^nth power for Tezzy. I have pointed out over and over, ad nauseum that virtually without exception, all out best runs come to the outside right. That indicates that the much-maligned Barbre is doing something right! Maybe the coaching staff should spend more time scheming to take advantage of the strengths this team has instead of bitching about their weaknesses.

And yes, I WILL keep beating this horse until it's nothing but a bloddy pulp. :horse:

Didn't Barbre give up 2 sacks last game though? He was good for most of the game. And you can argue the 2nd sack was a coverage sack but still. The physical tools aren't a problem with this guy, but I want to see him get the job done on the field.

But he is getting the job done on the field. Mike McCarthy just isn't exploiting his strengths.

Run to the outside right -- gain yards. Run it up the middle -- get stuffed. Simple equation.

That's the part of your argument I don't get. The left side is by far the weaker side of the line since it gives up justt as much, if not more pressure onto Rodgers, as well as can't run block as effectively.

Not so much when Clifton is there and the positions are normal. IMO the pressure came on Barbres side, especially in the Bears game. Plus Barbre gave up 2 sacks. That will need to be sured up.

It's great that he's a good run blocker. But he's going to have to cut the sacks WAY down to be a starter in this league.

If you're always running to the right, then the defenses will start to shift across. I'm glad we're seeing success in the outside run. We just have to balance out the amount of outside runs (both left and right) with runs up the middle.
