What surprises me about the numbers so far this year is how homogeneous they are, particularly in attempts per game and yards per attempt, as well as sack yardage lost. Teams these days really do field remarkably similar offensive attacks.

At this point in the season, Jay Cutler is currently running away with NFC North MVP honors, much to my surprise.

The sucakge that surprises me the most is Flacco with how much receiver talent they brought in, WTF, regression or just unlucky to play agianst two solid defenses the first two weeks?

Why are Flacco, Ryan, and Sanchez the "benchmarks of suckage"? All of them have talent, and two of them have played decently. I'm not a fan of Flacco, but in his defense, he's played against arguably the two best defenses in the league.

Sounds like Cutler had a gutsy performance against the Cowboys. He took a pummeling early in the game but hung in there and won it. I have to give the guy his due, and it makes the Monday night matchup even more interesting.

I chose them as benchmarks of suckage before the season began. The joke's on me that two of them have in fact performed reasonably well this season. These three are just my favorite whipping boys for the phenomenon of quarterbacks who get too much credit for being in the right place at the right time. They all three rode great defenses and/or running backs to the playoffs their first year, while their individual performances were in fact dreadful.

Quick, bench Joe Flacco for Matt Bulger....................................

It only makes sense, you can't have two bad games to begin a season, its crazy to think that you might actually improve as the season goes on, its panic time, you have to act immediately...........................

2 games in, all that matters is the won-lost record.
Cutler and AR are 2-0
Favre, 0-2

I literally laughed out loud when I saw the projections for Favre's interception to touchdown ratio. At his current rate, Aaron Rodgers is in for a mediocre year as a passer, but he's putting up Ryan Grantesque numbers as a rusher. Joe Flacco looks abysmal, while Mark Sanchez is on pace to have perhaps the most efficient season throwing 30+ touchdowns in league history.

I see that Cutler's QB rating is 3rd, behind only to Vick and P. Manning.

WOW.

Yes, at his current rate, Cutler will put up one of the top-five best season performances for a quarterback in NFL history. I can't see him sustaining this level of output, but stranger things have happened.
