Hi guys,

So, listening to my bud Zombieslayer rant about the misgivings of Robert Rodriguez led me to make a great movie thread. Personal favourites, obscure jems, movies that are so bad they are good, any and all! Post some of your movies, who knows, we might find one which makes us say "Holy shit, I almost forgot about that and would never have seen it again until you reminded me"

Ok,

A Fish Called Wanda

Fantastic comedy. Makes me laugh so hard.

A Man Called Horse

I find this movie captivating, in the castaway sense. When their is a communication barrier and you have to really pay attention to the literal actions of an actor.

Amores Perros

UserPostedImage

Fantastic cinematography with three intertwining storyliines, really good to watch.

A Streetcar Named Desire

Marlon. The Man.

Singin' in the Rain

My favourite musical. There is something very wholesome about Gene Kelly's performance that appeals to my raw romantic side. His performance in the title track is often duplicated but will never ever be replicated.

My word. I can go on for days.

I have to differentiate my favorite movies from "great" movies though. Ladyhawke was far from a great movie but it's one of my all-time favorites because for one, it's a fantasy movie that wasn't horrible (happens rarely), and for another, even with shorter hair, Michelle Pfeiffer's a babe (I already got dibs, Wade).

So great movies?

This is why I'm so anti-Academy Awards. Forrest freaking Gump, which was a dumb movie, beat out this movie? I thought it was a joke at first. Love that cover too. Cute girl with a cigarette, a pulp fiction novel, and a handgun. That's like pr0n for me.

Another great movie. I don't know what happened between Eastwood and Leone but they seem to hate each other. Leone would rather have a kidney removed than give Eastwood a compliment. Regardless, one of the few "perfect" movies where I can't think of anything I'd change.

Now if you say "favorite movies," my list would be much different from ones I liked that I considered "great."

Sometimes when I walk, I slow down, I walk deliberately, with a stern look on my face, know why?

Enrico Morricone has just come on my ipod.

I think one of Eastwood's more underrated movies was Two Mules. The first time I watched it was when I was intoxicated, and it actually bought me back to sobriety in such a nice way.

When she lights up a cigarette, so hawt.

Pulp Fiction to me is actually underrated, as crazy as that sounds.

Instantly quotable. Great soundtrack, and fearless when with controversy.

The Marcellus in the redneck dungeon scenes were pure class.

Funny little factoid, Tarantino calls "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" the best movie ever made. Yes, I think "Pulp Fiction" is underrated. Although it didn't have anything original, it was a flawless movie. There's nothing about it I'd change.

I like some of the more obscure scenes. Like for instance, I find that Colombian taxi driver sexy.

Yeah, love Enrico's soundtrack. Knew an Indian (dot, not feather) guy who could make that do-do-do-do-do whomp whomp whomp sound perfectly to the point that it cracked me up every time he did it.

I've never seen Two Mules nor any of the Dirty Harry movies. I'm kind of a noob when it comes to Eastwood.

Okay, maybe not my all-time favorite, but a movie that's pretty funny, yet, no one seems to like.

I watched this film not long ago, it's one of tose that slipped through the net.

Being an avid South Park fan, I just didn't find it gut-busting..I think I will always attribute Matt and Trey to that brand of humor though they didn't even direct the thing.

Good call though, this was in my forgotten memoir.
