Postgame show here in Chicago with Mongo McMichaels (?) and he kept repeating how the Packers gave the game to the Bears. He's not impressed.

Or you could blame Frank Zombo and his high hit.

Or DB's for failing to hang on to INT's

Or Bulaga and Sitton for letting Peppers block a chip shot FG.

Or the coverage teams that could not stay in their lanes and contain Hester.

Or the coaching staff for never seeming to take the Bears seriously.

Or the O line for having Parkinson's Disease

So basically what you're saying is, this topic title is completely irrelevant, and very rarely if ever does ONE PLAY ALONE cost a team a game.

William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

Jones lacked football intelligence on that play. He was carrying the ball in the wrong hand and not anticipating the strip, and against the Bears no less.

Some may want to go easy on Jones for the mistake, but he is hardly a rookie anymore.

I can't say I'm too surprised about the fumble. I'm more surprised that he wasn't covering it up. Ball possession especially at that point is so important.

Regarding the Packers not taking the Bears seriously. I think the Packers now view the Bear games as just that, another game. And obviously from coach and Aaron, they view the Vikings games as something more than just a game.

The Bears I think are viewed by the Packers as the annoying little brother and then go 'oh shit lil bro is beating me' and then its too late, unless we get lucky (e.g. Tillman slipping in last years opener).

It bothers me that Lovie Smith gets his team ready to play the Packers.
For Lovie Smith and the Bears, a Packers game is important and they come out with effort.

After seeing this repeated and repeated one would think that it might happen again and and the coach would be prepared for a high effort game from the Bears.

Why is it that the coaching staff doesn't take a game or a rivalry as serious as the fans.

How do you measure something like this without aid of your gut? This claim may or may not be true -- how exactly does someone prove it though? Honest freaking question -- don't read too much into the perceived meaning.

How can you quantify a statement like that?

It would be hard to argue that the outcome of the game was a matter of effort. It could, however, be more less boiled down to some boneheaded plays.

Dave - When Lovie Smith first joined da Bears, his initial goal, as he had stated in the press, was to beat the Packers. No, not win a SB. Beat the Packers. After saying that, he got a lot of cheering from Chicago.

Several Bears players, and I specifically remember Urlacher, have said on record to the press that their biggest games are against the Packers.

I haven't heard anything from our side of the pond.

The reason the Jone's fumble sticks out was it was at the end of the game, when we had a chance to win it.
But there were MANY plays which you can point to that cost us the game.
Sloppiness, poor coverage on the punt, poor punting, penalties, you name it.
